Strangely enough, I just recently realized that I didn't have a physical copy of Time in my collection, so I remedied that immediately.
Rain is Falling, and The Way Life's Meant To Be are probably my two favorite songs from the album. The former has some really great chords and keyboard sounds. "A noise in the city made the children run and hide themselves away.." LOVE that lyric! TWLMTB is an obvious nod to Brian Wilson's Heroes and Villains, but somehow Jeff makes it totally unique.
Elsewhere on the record, we get a real mashup of styles from reggae to synth pop, new wave, space age disco, and Jerry Lee Lewis style 50's rock. Not to mention that the album has been cited as an influence on artists like Daft Punk, MGMT, Steve Winwood, The Flaming Lips, and super producer/songwriter Jack Antonoff (known for his work with the band Fun, Taylor Swift , Lorde, and Lana Del Ray).
As much as people mention Out Of The Blue as ELO's signature album, I think Time might have a claim to that title, as well.

Time is the album that catapulted me from being a casual ELO fan to a 'wow,I need to know more about this band' fan. TWLMTB is right up there for me as one of their best, so much so I have the line 'I wish I was back in 1981' as my signature on my profile as this year holds special memories for me in many ways. I would love to hear it sung live someday.

Strangely enough, I just recently realized that I didn't have a physical copy of Time in my collection, so I remedied that immediately. Time was the first album I heard as a whole, and was my first favorite ELO album (I think OOTB just barely edges it out these days), so I've been searching for it in my local used record shops literally as long as I've been into vinyl... and yet it's still the only album besides No Answer that I don't have a physical copy of. I really should remedy that immediately; back in my early ELO fan days when I looked for it on eBay, I was unwilling to spend $15+ on one LP--hey, who can blame me, I got ANWR and OOTB (with the spaceship cutout!) for $15, postage included--but that was before I could ever imagine liking a band so much that I'd someday spend $60 on a little album called From Out of Nowhere...
For me, favorite moments on the album are all the overlapping "ticket to the moon" vocals at the end of said song, the drawn-out ending of The Way Life's Meant to Be, and the keyboard part behind the chorus in Rain Is Falling.
And though I can't include it 'cos it's not just one moment on the album, I love all the seamless transitions between the tracks. There really is no better way to listen to Time than in its entirety.

My original copy of Time wasn't by the Electric Light Orchestra. Those words never appeared on the cover or labels. They might've been on the original inner sleeve - but I didn't have that. Just a plain old 'bag'. Still, no matter. It was then, and still is, something else

Well, I have five special moments that I really like from this story:
1) That beginning with the "message from another time" and the sound of the spaceship above the earth, passing from the Prologue to Twilight
2) Twilight
3) The moment when our starring really misses his own time, watching the changes of the world and comparing them to his original world, saying that this is The Way Life's Meant To Be
4) I use to imagine that in Another Heart Breaks, the starring walks in the night to his home through that city of the future, in a moment to walk alone, to think alone. It really sounds like a song to heart at night!
5) I think Hold On Tight fits perfectly with the concept, even when it sounds really different from the rest of the album. Is just a "happy" way to hold on to your dreams, and, for the starring, to hold on to his dream of return...
Extra) I'm optimistic so I gave another end to our story. After hearing about the last try to return, the future people gives the chance to the starring to finally come back to his own Time, but, saying him that he will keep a sorrow. I can't understand why, but at least I think he could return to an also changed 1981...

this line in Your's Truly, 2095 always cracks me up she has an IQ of 1001, she has a jump suit on, she's also a telly..phone but my favorite "moment" is the transition from the ending of Your's Truly - Is that what you really want? driving, accelerating climax to the sudden quiet and melancholy beginning of Ticket to the Moon - remember the good ole 1980's?
2 questions back to back with an abrupt change in tempo and yet Jeff makes it work so smoothly

My vinyl Time album is up in the loft but the cd version does say Electric Light Orchestra. That must be the remastered one. The Time CD I bought in the 80s only says "ELO."

"Is this the way life's meant to beeee...?" Jeff's vocals on this song.

On another note, what is everyone’s favorite Time moment? Not song, but moment on the album? The first verse of Ticket to the Moon. Funny, I think the second verse (or is it the third one? After the first chorus) being much more powerful in terms of instrumentation is more intense.
