Paul,Rick and Bruce. Some real good songs here and difficult to choose,so I went with what I see as their finest moment and a song that epitomises 1978 in a lot of ways....

Crumbs! This could've been tricky! The Jam for me. In their brief foray into the charts, they shook them up. "Going straight in at Number 1" was commonly heard about their songs. Besides, a schoolmate was a distant cousin of one of the three

choice came down to the 1st 2 for me - the audio on those live performances is not the best, so I went back to the studio versions

I'm tempted by Elvis but it's got to be loyalty for me so I'm voting for The Clash.

I love True Colors but Oliver's Army was part of the soundtrack of my misspent youth, what a classic *votes Elvis*

I went with Oliver's Army, lots of good choices, though!

Almost voted for Dexys--I think I like that live version even better than the studio recording--but ended up going with The Jam.
(Missed the last round, but my vote for The Human League wouldn't have changed the standings.)

I had a hard time deciding between "Oliver's army" and "True colors", but the latter is such a well-written, inspired, deep, beautiful song (and even more beautiful in this live version) that I had to go for it.
