Split Enz and AFOS move into the next round, here are some 7" dance floor fillers to vote on.
You can vote for TWO songs and the top two will move into the next round.

What's the... chance of only really liking one song out of the four? I'll go for REM.

Strange almond for me, I never really got REM and DYWM is vastly overplayed although I like the band and the album 'Dare' it came from ....

Oh, Mr Wimp, you haven't made this easy!
Anyway, it's Soft Cell and Human League for me.

Kenneth was a no brainer choice for me, since R.E.M. is my other favorite band. Interesting tidbit, they are releasing a 25th anniversary 6 disc special edition of "Monster" (the album "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" is from) November 1st, the same day "From Out of Nowhere" is being released. Since it includes demos of previously unheard music, I get to hear new music from all of my favorite musicians on the same day! ...But I digress. I went for The Human League as my second pick.

Visage because I once got quite addicted to 'Fade to Grey'.
Soft Cell because I love the way Marc sings that song.

I like REM, but not a big fan of that song. Don't You Want Me, is really the only one I like out of this batch of songs.

i only voted for kenneth as well. interesting soundbite i heard from midge ure...he had been producing a band in ireland and they paid actual money that allowed him to buy one of those new fangled synths... he took it back to the rich kids and immediately split the band in half...50% loved it and 50% hated it ....
so he took the 50% who loved it found a couple of people he liked in London and Visage was born.

I like REM, but not a big fan of that song. "Monster" was a pretty polarizing album in general, understandably. I think people were blindsided by it, since it was a complete 180° after "Out of Time" and "Automatic for the People" (both heavily acoustic albums, laden with mandolin and string parts), and very different from anything else they had done up to that point. I would compare it to how "Time" seemed to have polarized some ELO fans at the time of its release.

But most of that album didn't connect with me.

Hmmph! Well, "I" like Say Hello, Wave Goodbye, even if you lot don't. *sits in the corner and sulks*

*soothes* There, there, I love it too so it has one of my votes. It's my favourite out of all four songs.
Second vote goes to Visage, it's one of those songs that never get old for me plus Steve Strange is a fellow Welshie.

The Human League, easy. Yeah, it's probably overplayed (must be since it's the only one of the four I already knew) but I still think it's a great song. Decided on REM for my second vote.
