Hi, friends from all over the world! I've read in an Argentinian ELO fan group that on November 9th at the Birmingham Conservatoire our dear Richard Tandy will be playing live alongside Dave Morgan their album Earthrise. So this gets me thinking... What's up with Richard? He's been absent from the latest tour or two, I can't remember when was the last time he and Jeff played together. I hate gossip and all that, but given this is a ELO fan forum, what do you think is going on? We knoe that Richard was recovering from some illness. Do you think he's fine by now? Maybe now that Jeff puts out a new album, they'll meet again for a future tour? Greetings from Argentina!

Maybe now that Jeff puts out a new album, they'll meet again for a future tour? Greetings from Argentina! Your question comes at a time when it can be answered. Steve Hochman of NPR posted on his Facebook page a couple of weeks ago that he had interviewed Jeff. In the comments, Steve said this about Richard. We are still in the dark about whether Richard will appear on stage again, but we know he's "feeling better."
From a recent email Dave Scott-Morgan sent to his list, I don't think Dave will be playing in the Earthrise performance at the Birmingham Conservatoire. I believe the music has been arranged for orchestra only.
But I've been wrong before.

At least the future is looking brighter for Richard,I and everyone else wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back at some point for ELO.

The official press release says Richard plays a solo on the song One More Time on the new album.

The last time Richard played with Jeff was at Radio City Music Hall in NYC in Sept. '16. He is scheduled to appear with Dave Morgan at the Earthrise concert in November.

I’m glad to hear he’s in better health. Hopefully he will return to ELO for a tour? After all he did work with Jeff on the new album ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sorry for my inaccurate post on this thread last week where I said that Richard was scheduled to appear at the Dave Morgan concert; I guess I misread Dave's initial email announcement about it (although it certainly seemed to imply it). Now Dave is saying on Facebook that he doesn't know if Richard will be there, which I guess means that if he is there, he'll just be watching, not playing. Oh well, very glad he's doing better regardless.

The last I heard is that Richard might be appearing at Jeff's upcoming show on November 7th, but if he's at this or Dave's concert just two days later, it will be as a non-performing guest, and I suspect he'll be using such low-key events to ease himself into further live activity, providing this is even on the cards at all...

It's lovely to read that about Richard, that he's recovering and getting better. And to hear how much Jeff loves and appreciates him because we all do too!

there have been a couple of recent posts about the Earthrise concert - it showed up on my Twitter feed will some forum members be attending? www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dave-scott-morgan-and-rbc-orchestra-present-earthrise-tickets-72382348553The Bradshaw Hall in Birmingham on Nov 9th It was on Christmas Eve 1968 when the crew of Apollo 8 first orbited the moon as a reconnaissance for the Apollo 11 mission and took the iconic photograph of the earth rising out of the lunar landscape, but was a long time later - in 1985 – (when the British pop group ELO were between touring dates), that the Tandy Morgan Duo recorded the album of songs Dave had written about that defining event. We are delighted to invite you to this première orchestral presentation of the symphonic concept album Earthrise. The concert is a unique opportunity to hear Richard and Dave’s album as interpreted and rearranged by Royal Birmingham Conservatoire postgraduate composer Emily Abdy and graduate composers Rob Roberts and Peter May. "Richard Tandy and Dave Scott-Morgan (Electric Light Orchestra) present a re-imagining of Earthrise". I've also seen a message from Dave today that says Richard will be at the concert. Wish I was attending this show, the meet and greet will be some event now.
