Today, the 14th, marks 100 years since two brave men boarded a flimsy aeroplane and set off across the Atlantic. It's a remarkable story.

It’s unbelievable how far air travel has moved on in those 100 years.

American schools don't mention that flight - instead teaching that the Lindbergh flight was the "first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight". in this article about the flight from Newfoundland to Ireland, it mentions an even earlier crossing by flying boats one of those made it across, but with stops to refuel Lindbergh flew from New York to Paris - 2 cities with dominant newspapers and whose residents tend to ignore anything that didn't happen "there". rather than "first non-stop trans-Atlantic", the Lindbergh flight could be called "the first inter-continental" flight www.france24.com/en/20190613-first-transatlantic-flight-100-years-ago

What a story! Man, those two guys had guts to make such trips in such fragile airplanes. The County Galway residents must have not believed what was happening. Lindbergh flew from New York to Paris - 2 cities with dominant newspapers and whose residents tend to ignore anything that didn't happen "there". Totally.
