When mine comes, I'll put it on the pile of vinyl that I can't play due to lack of a turntable....

As a side note, for any OMD fans Andy McClusky has recently been a guest on the Rockanteurs podcast with Gary Kemp and Guy Pearce.

Is Dazzle Ships the OMD equivalent of Time? both albums were not very well received when they first came out,but over the years they have both achieved almost cult status. I remember DS was so poorly reviewed by the critics after the success of OandM that I thought that would be the end of them. Fast forward 40 years and DS like Time, are both well appreciated by both fans and critics alike. A WW1 dazzle ship in Liverpool

I think you are right, DS came out and was slammed by the critics, now the band admits it was a mistake but the fans see it as cult album and other acts claim it influenced them.
When I went to the 30th anniversary DS concert there was a Dazzle Ship by the venue which you could go around and inside, there was specially recorded music playing as you toured it written and recorded by OMD.

Looks good value, thanks Horacewimp! Is it like with printers with ink though, does a replacement stylus cost more than a whole neew unit?

Is this your turntable? There is a Richer Sounds near me in Leeds and I've looked on their website before. I'll be looking in the next 12 months or so for a new set up and I'll have a budget of around £750 for a turntable, amp, speakers and maybe a cd player.

It is my turntable but I think it’s been updated now, my runs off a power adapter now I think it’s direct to the mains. The cartridge and stylus is good quality, I’ve had mine for probably nearly ten years and I’ve never replaced the stylus, it doesn’t however get lots of use. All my stuff came from Richer Sounds, they seem really good and I was able to knock them down on the prices. I’m no audiophile but this is my reasonable priced set up and to me seems really good.

My main speakers are very small wall mounted units which are so old they should be in a museum, they came from Tandys. They still work well but lack bass which is why I added the subwoofer which has a separate output on the amp.

Good set up you have there, nice and compact. I won't be bothering with a cassette deck or graphic equaliser though Ps, does Richard know that you have his speakers?

I remember going to Richer Sounds years ago and they were really helpful with suggestions about what to buy. Much more knowledgeable than the average oik in Currys anyway.
