For my creative writing class I am working on a short story set in 1970s London...totally not inspired by ELO or the Bo Rhap movie or anything like that...
I have lived neither in the 1970s or anywhere except California...do any of you guys have slang words from that area/time period or just words in general that they use? Or words that are not used over there? thanks so much!

Add a "mate" to anything you say and you are basically speaking British English.
Also, this might not be slang but it must be the most heard phrase in the UK: "mind the gap".
