Mr Musette has unearthed this from the dusty depths of his collection - it has a fabric patch attached which mirrors what's underneath and goes right around the edge. The discs are black vinyl and the inner sleeves have the lyrics printed on them but there's no extra inserts. The inside when opened up looks the same to me. He reckons he's seen them a few times at record fairs - do we think it's a genuine release or just maybe a craze amongst fans to customise them at the time?

Does it look like the patch comes off at all, revealing the 'normal' ELO logo?

You can see the border of the logo. I'd say yes. I'm surprised the patch is still sticking. Mr Unomusette has taken great care of this album.

Maybe it's a limited edition, very valuable copy.

I'll have a look in the 'Record Collector' magazine that has ELO in it, it's only about 4 years old so it's fairly up to date,it should have it mentioned if it's legit.

I'd say it's stuck over the original artwork. It's very well attached which is lucky because contrary to BSJ's generous view on Mr Musette's caretaking, it's just been stuffed in amongst a whole load of other albums he's picked up at record fairs. It's quite cool how well it fits, maybe some random fans discovered this and did a bit of customising. Mr M is adamant he's seen more than one on his travels anyway. Looking forward to seeing what Timeblue finds out....

I have this patch, I bought it in a shop in the eighties, didn't come with the lp. This, however , can neither confirm nor deny any of the above theories.

Apparently it came out in 1978, so again was he cashing in on OOTB? Can't find any music from it anywhere on the web so I don't know if the songs are rip offs too....
