No, I haven't got it. Still in my "to buy" list.
Was it so difficult to say "it's Mike Edwards on the cover of 'OTTD'"? I hadn't recognized him... and still don't know about his relation with grapefruits.

Geez, for a moment I thought it would be John Lennon or Freddy Mercury!
What about the grapefruit?

Geez, for a moment I thought it would be John Lennon or Freddy Mercury! What about the grapefruit? Mike's 'party piece' was to play the cello using a grapefruit (who doesn't) and also his cello used to explode (a small charge was timed to go off at a certain time although this rarely worked properly)

What picture are we talking about? If commenting on pictures, please include them. Just being curious, and sorry for my ignorance: is the man in your avatar picture a famous musician or something? I gave you a thumbs up because, like timeblue, I thought you were messing around. Sorry.

Sorry. No worries!. No, I really hadn't recogized him and I didn't know about the grapefruit. Have in mind that I'm an ELO fan only since a couple of years ago and I'm not a big fan of the early era (when musicians changed all the time), so I haven't got very identified several of the musicians of that time (in fact, when Horace made the poll about favourite ELO members there were some names I hadn't got the slightest idea about). I have to do my homework harder as a fan, but Mike Edwards was a celloist who was only 2 years with ELO and in my opinion in no way was an important member, and on top of that he was quite hard to recognize with that sock on his head.

Oi, Helmut! Just this One of the many things I love about this forum is that we've all come to the fandom at different times, in different ways, and nobody is made to feel inferior. Trust me, I've been on forums where to show the slightest chink in your armour of knowledge is to invite scorn and abuse. I became a rabid fan in the late 1970's then drifted off after Balance of Power and have been unfaithful with other bands until joining this forum *blushes* I know hardly anything of extras, reissues and box sets and stuff but I'm not afraid to admit it. That's because the members here are awesome. Long may it continue *salutes*

Are you running us up again?
The 70's are my years. Since joining the club, I made the leap into the 80's. Quite the shock! May I write. Who are these people? What have you done with ELO?? Time, yes, very much after many listening's. Secret Messages just getting into and am liking it. I've gone mad recently and hunt used record stores for in great condition albums of the 80's and any of the old too. Can't have too many copies of them, really!

You are not supposed to know everything and I'm not afraid to admit it when I don't know either (and I will keep on asking when I don't know). In any case, it was a good opportunity to learn something about a musician I barely know about, other than the unfortunate circumstances in which he died.

Mike died a couple or so years ago in bizarre circumstances as a massive hay bale rolled down a hill and hit the car he was driving. RIP Mike Edwards
