Following on from what folk are saying on the shoutbox today, just what is the average age of an ELO fan? I'll start off by saying that I am 54....

a subtle way to ask the question is - "what is your favorite Jeff Lynne album" take the year and add 14 and you'll have a good guess at their age (works for me)
and a way to know the average - go to the concert and look around ; )
but I'm perfectly willing to admit my age - just turned 56

I'm 60. When I think of concert goers I think teens and twenty's. It's bit unsettling.

I'm 54 but only in reality. In my mind I'm still a giddy 14

I'm 53, but in my mind, I'm in my early/mid-30s , that sweet spot where I was finally feeling a bit wise, but I still had a bit of that youthful glow, no middle age spread, and right before I started coloring my hair, too...It's also when I met and married my husband. orioles70 Your formula gives me Discovery, so it definitely doesn't work for me. I guess I was an old soul when I fell in love with ANWR and OOTB...at ages 11 and 12, respectively.

At 30, I am probably an outlier? I think my music taste is more typical for someone about 20 years my senior.

Eloneen - they say women mature earlier than men Or perhaps it helps to have an older sibling. I probably wouldn't have noticed ANWR if I had been 11 when it came out. Like I didn't notice Eldorado. Had to work my way backwards. And for some reason I stopped at The Move - just discovering Idle Race over the past year.

I’m 55 but feeling younger as I’m having an impromptu party at Maidstone Travelodge with the wine and crisps I bought from home. It’s a rest stop on the way to Bruge in the morning. That’s if I get up in time.

One of the great aspects of a fan forum like this is that nobody knows how old you are until you say so, and it doesn't really come up because it's all about what you have to say not what you look like. I was about 42 when I got into Muse and the forums I used to frequent were mostly populated by people in their late teens and twenties but by the time my venerable age emerged we were all just chums united by our common enthusiasm. Now of course most of them have grown up and embraced Real Life, but of on this forum it's the total opposite, we are tending to shrug off Real Life and enjoy ourselves

BIuebird, don't feel like an outlier! I'm only 19! I definitely don't have much in common music-wise with others my age

unomusetteThat's very true! nightrider75You remind me of myself! When I was in high school, I was always the weird one who didn't know any current music (unless one of my favorite "old" bands had a new record out). My mom worked in a school, and she knew more current music than I did. She probably still does, actually.

I have a son who is now 22 and he's been into ELO for about five years,it's not that I have played them non stop in the house or car in order to brainwash him, I think he found them in his own time,so much so,he accompanied me to Wembley last year!
