STW is probably my least favorite ELO hit single, so I'm sort of ok with it being eliminated.
In this round, I had to go with NITC.Catchy, but the "I'm gonna getcha" part has always annoyed me.

I still can't believe Sweet Talking Woman is gone. Well I'm gonna try a different tactic here and vote Jungle hoping to keep NITC for at least one more round. (and piss off Helmut83 too, because he loves Jungle! )

You've got to admit "Night in the city" is pretty poor for a Jeff Lynne song.

Oh, go ahead Helmut83. Waste your vote. I will admit "Night In The City" is not a favorite. I'm glad that at least Moby Dick was harpooned.

Ha! Yeah, Moby Dick has no business in that album, same as "Another Heart Breaks" has no business in "Time".

Ha! Yeah, Moby Dick has no business in that album, same as "Another Heart Breaks" has no business in "Time". I actually like "Another Heart Breaks" and "Letter from Spain"- those minimalist tracks that a lot of people dismiss, but I don't really care so much for "The Whale." (It's still better than "Starlight," though.) It seems to go on forever, and with no vocals, it just drags on...

So you like "Another Heart Breaks" and "Letter from Spain" but don't like "End of the Line", "Margarita", "Tweeter and the Monkey Man", "You are not Alone Anymore", etc...? Well, I guess that goes to show that you can like Jeff Lynne for very different reasons (or, in other words, songs).

Ha! Yeah, Moby Dick has no business in that album, same as "Another Heart Breaks" has no business in "Time". I have to agree on both counts. I feel like there were much better songs that could have filled that slot on "Time;" all the bonus tracks from the reissue (the B-sides) were fantastic.

It was a crime to leave those 3 fantastic songs outside the album. I would have understood it if there had been no more room for them, but "Another Heart Breaks" is there taking a precious spot that should have been occupied by one of those 3. Personally, I would have included "The Bouncer", which I love, but if JL wanted a calm song to slow down things at that point in his concept album, then the song to choose was clearly "When time stood still".

I had to look up the songs you mentioned in your message, and, after listening to a couple of them, I'd say yes, that's right! Maybe I'd have a different opinion after hearing them multiple times. elophile put it well: It's the "jangly" quality of the Wilburys' music that I don't really like. Oh, well!

It's funny, the jangly quality is why I like those songs so much. It is interesting how we all have different tastes in songs written by the same artist.
