A very recent photo of Richard (Late November 2018). He is looking well and like the Richard of old but its obvious that his problem wasn't anything to do with arguments with Jeff or carpal tunnel surgery. Wishing Richard all the best and hope he'll be involved in the Earthrise concert with Dave next year.

I'm surprised that Richard allowed this recent picture out, as it confirms what I'd been hearing from inside sources going back over a year. However, that's not to say he didn't have carpal tunnel problems on top of something that appears to be far worse - I fully understand why he might have wanted to concentrate all his energy on recovering, but I'm now worried that it's only a matter of time before discussions such as this switch focus to the more obvious health issue he's been dealing with over the last few months. I chose not to openly disclose this out of respect for Richard, and the fact he's signing copies of Earthrise points to a more optimistic future. At the very least, he's clearly back on good terms with Dave Morgan, and I can only hope this also indicates his support of the upcoming orchestral tour, if not physical involvement with that venture. Of course, there's always going to be a part of me (as with most fans, I suspect) that would love to see Richard up on stage with either Dave or Jeff again, but at this stage, I'm just grateful he's still around to even provide the world his signature. Here's to many more years of humanity being blessed by those Magic Fingers!

Dave and Richard have signed 50 copies of Earthrise. Its all part of the 50th anniversary of the orbit of the moon (that's where they got the name Earthrise from) and the moon landing the following year. The CD's are to help raise funds and awareness for the concert next year. Id imagine they're selling fast. They can be bought from Dave's website.

I wish I hadn't already bought an unsigned Earthrise from Dave for $32. I wish I wasn't broke and could afford to turn around and buy a signed CD for $50, which is really a bargain.

It is admirable to want to not openly disclose Richard's health issues, but the fact he clearly has an electrolarynx in that photo points to a battle with throat cancer. He has the same device in a photo from the Earthrise Live 2019 (November 2019) event, over a year later. Keeping him in my prayers, but a return to ELO seems unlikely.

We love you Richard. After Jeff, Richard was always the one I was most fascinated by in terms of his ELO input. He always looked cool in the live videos and the list of synthesisers with evocative names he played always seemed very futuristic and exciting.

Richard has been missed badly on the recent tours, seeing him on stage made it that bit more classic ELO. I wish him well.
