I guess this isn’t really the best time to show you this but Helmut83 some years back Croatia were always our bogey team and so when I visited Zagreb before I went I purchased this badge to wear. There was a bit of friction between the teams so I thought it might help relations, it did I got invited to a mega barbecue because of it. If you want to borrow it to wear around town let me know Below is another badge I found from when we (Cowdenbrummies) sponsored Cowdenbeath, the badge is incorrect and only a few were released I believe, can you see the problem?

So it comes out you have links to Croatia, Horacewimp , huh? Did you have to bring it out right now? Sad performance by an improvised an insecure team, but it is very representative of what Argentina football federation is. Taken over by politics, governed by mafias, 3 coaches in 4 years, the coach the was doing well (Martino) resigned because they owed him about a years' salary, everything was improvised... the result isn't that surprising, even despite the amount of talent we have. Yeah, I can spot the problem with the "blue Brazil", haha. What a screwup, although not that surprising given the general knowledge of many Europeans regarding Latin American countries. Bev Bevan spelling "Hondurus" instead of "Honduras" was even worse.

sorry to see the result helmut ...take heart at least your there...we haven't been since 1958 Thanks, dillwyn. When you think about it that way it doesn't seem so bad... The thing is each country goes to the World Cup with it's own expectations according to their history and the quality of their players. And, in the case of Argentina, being runners-up in the last WC and having the players we have (arguably the best in the world among many other very good ones), you'd expect them to get at least past the group stage. Now, to watch Iceland vs Nigeria...

It might interest you to know that the 'father' of the Argentine Navy came from a small town close to where I'm from. William Brown - or Guillermo Brown, as I think he might be know down your way - is highly regarded back on his native soil. People are rightly proud of him.

Yeah, I know there are also European people who are very knowledgeable of geography in general, tremblinwilbury, that's why I was careful of not implying I was referring to all. Brown was from County Mayo as I understand, are you from there too? Yes, he is known as "Guillermo" down here, and he is regarded very highly here too, I'd say one of the least discussed heroes of our country. Lots of streets, parks and squares, schools, football clubs, etc... are named after him. Talking about Argie-Irish connection, my brother in law is son of Irish parents (from Westmeath), which means my nephews are of Irish surname.

Whoa, what a blow for Iceland. Not their day, definitely. Even Gylfi Sigurdsson played like crap and missed a penalty. Tough luck.

Belgium are flying high, but the opposition they've faced so far has been insignificant. With Tunisia and Panama in the group, that is one of the easiest groups of the whole World Cup. It will be interesting to see how they play against more competitive teams. And on the self-indulgent note of the day, if Hazard has a belly, why shouldn't we?

Yes and they have only England left to play ...as I understand it the Belgian Manager is already talking about putting his second team out against them.

Belgium and England have been so lucky with the draw, that not only they got two very bad teams in their group, but also, when they advance, they get to play in round of 16 against the group of Poland and Colombia, which, to make it even easier, looks like it's Senegal and Japan who will advance. England and Belgium have no excuse not to make it to the quarterfinals at least.
