David Bowie, Space Oddity? That Rick Wakeman was never paid for, so he'd never tell how he got the effect?

Always thought the start of Crazy Horses by the Osmonds sounded like a stylophone.... would never have got Space Oddity. Good call Uno.

I was going to guess Rolf Harris but on second thoughts he just did the tv advert.

I think if anyone listens to any Rick Wakeman interview he's bound to bring up this story at some point - I've just heard a lot of his interviews

my favourite story of his get it on story...
wakeman, who was desperate for work at the time to pay his rent, had bumped into Bolan in Oxford Street, who offered him the session. Wakeman pointed out to Tony Visconti that the record did not actually need a piano player. Visconti suggested that he could add a gliss. Wakeman said that Visconti could do that, to which Bolan replied, "You want your rent, don't you?" Wakeman did, and earned £9 for his efforts
after the gliss there is no other piano on the track

I must admit that I didn't know what a 'gliss' was! I had to look it up to find out....

Me neither and I'm too lazy to look it up so I'm wearing a confident face and hoping for the best. If it works for Boris....

Not that one either - but coincidentally he IS wearing the confident expression I was talking about, spooky. I was going to send Boris the spider to get you but he's disappeared from the smiley bank so here's Felix the Fly instead
