With Sam Smith in the middle, I guess it must have something to do with his copy of "I won't back down". Avicii must have used it and that dragged Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty into the mix too.

I think a few forum members will really enjoy this one, especially a certain unomusette I heard a Muse song for the first* time the other day, "Uprising"--and it reminded me a lot of "Two Headed Monster"! *Maybe I've heard one before, but it was the first time I'd heard one knowing it was Muse

I'm ready to sue them for plagiarism. What an opportunity to cash in... I mean, I'm most indignant at this blatant copy! Uno, tell the management to cancel the purchase of the yacht, I now want a plane instead.

Well of course it is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery smileys-whistling-823718
Actually they had the cheek to suggest it was more of an homage to Goldffrapp (Ooh La La) and the general sound of The Glitter Band (early '70's British glam rock), but I'm ready to believe they had a premonition of Two Headed Monster and thought they could pull a fast one. I feel I should volunteer to go and give them an intensive grilling about it, using all sorts of creative interrogation techniques which spring most pleasingly reluctantly to mind
A plane, you say Helmut83? I think we could afford this one

A mini minibar is not a minibar. I'm not convinced...

This mini bar is perfectly adequate I think. You do have to plug it in at the nearest house so you can only fly as far as the cable goes. But this is just a small blip of course.

The Jayhawks are a very good band that at times shows some "Lynnefluence", and one of their fans has done a tribute film.
The name of the film is taken from one of their songs that I think sounds most like ELO (lots of strings and familiar chord progressions).

I'm a sucker for songs with cello. This trio's name (Bandits on the Run) hints at some McCartney influence, but this tune has some ELO in it. The cello, trains, time, love - "what a strange and sudden sound". What ELO might have sounded like with female vocalists.

Isn't the celloist the actress of "Derry Girls"? She looks so similar! I think the song is pretty good! These days of songwriting malaria among the top selling artists, someone who can compose a nice tune should be appreciated.

heard a new song today by Tweedy - this lyric caught my ear "To radiate what the cello can’t play" (full lyrics below)
Summer noon I can always stay To radiate what the cello can’t play She spoke to me and provoked my band And I broke in two in the heat of her hand Like a lioness or a coyote At a pink beating heart in the balcony I followed the finger to the creature’s gate In the hubbub where the pitiful congregate I thought there was a note I could not hear So I floated to the whisper up against my ear Afterwards, I found my face in the trash Really at the core of it, it wasn’t so bad Never leave your mother’s womb Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon Summer noon I can always stay To radiate what the cello can’t play She spoke to me and provoked my band And I broke in two in the heat of her hand Like a lioness or a coyote At a pink beating heart in the balcony I followed the finger to the creature’s gate In the hubbub where the pitiful congregate I thought there was a note I could not hear So I floated to the whisper up against my ear Afterwards, I found my face in the trash Really at the core of it, it wasn’t so bad Never leave your mother’s womb Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon
