Sorry to put a damper on this thread but I think we are being taken for mugs, the shows next year will basically be the same production (even if a new album comes out) and what with the dvd, vinyl etc to buy too.... ELO's an oldies band. Not much can change.

As much as this pains me to say,I think the ticket prices are a rip off especially for those who have recently seen them. For those abroad such as the States who are getting their first shot at seeing them then it would be worth the expense but to ask loyal fans who saw them just months ago to shell out big money again then I don't think it's fair or right, moan over.... seriously though this is a year away, given his age he hasn't many of these left.... what more would you want. Every event there has been something given a little different...we've had incredible visuals/ light shows / spaceships/ full orchestras - tighrope/standing in the rain. Even twilight and secret messages got an airing. Unless you are wanting whole album recreations what else is there...special guests?

I just remember back to when I didn't have much hope that I would ever get to see Jeff play live and now I've bought tickets to see him play a 3rd and 4th time! Sure, the cost hurts but missing these shows would hurt more. It's true that this isn't going to last forever. If you want to get in there then get in while the gettin's good! If I was wealthy I'd pay for front and center every show!

Some folks who shelled out lots of money for great seats might be willing to go again and get seats further back this time, and vice versa. Since some of the last tour's shows sold out, there also might be other fans who will get to attend this time. The market may be right for these prices. The resellers who have bought up lots of tickets won't be able to command the high prices they are asking if the shows don't sell well.

Sorry to put a damper on this thread but I think we are being taken for mugs, the shows next year will basically be the same production (even if a new album comes out) and what with the dvd, vinyl etc to buy too.... Everyone's situation is different and so are our preferences. Many of us are not buying all the ELO goodies that are available and have to make choices somewhere. For example, I'm not a collector. I don't care about having posters, picture discs, or anything on vinyl, and I don't care if my tee shirts are not first quality or authentic, as long as they are classic ELO and look nice, so I don't have those expenses. I like having the books, the music (CDs are fine), and the DVDs, and a concert ticket, now that I have the opportunity. I said earlier this year that I have a limit as to how much I would spend to see ELO live, and what lengths I would go to in order to make it happen, but after the UK summer tour and finding out recently that ELO would come to the US, I decided that I really want to go and I feel a little more flexible. I still have limits, especially since I'm the only fan in my household and have professional and family responsibilities that might make it difficult to leave town to see a concert. I really don't think I would pay top dollar for a second show and/or pay to travel out of town again. This one concert is a big splurge for me, but I don't feel ripped off. We'll see how I feel on August 25. Many of us are lucky to have the opportunity to see them in concert for the first time or for the first time in many years, and fortunate enough to make it happen at least once. Because of distance or expense, some people can't do it at all, and would jump at the chance to do it if they could.

Like I said previously,to those who are getting the chance to see them for the first time it's all well and good,I was as excited as anyone when I got my tickets (I could have seen them in Leeds just 20 minutes away but chose to see them at Wembley in order to make it a 'special' weekend)But to ask fans to stump up big money again to see what will more or less be the same show only months after this year's tour is not right in my opinion. To those in the states, you will love the show especially if he does the same song list, and the lasers and lights are awesome too! I really get your excitement.

Also as well,(my conspiracy mind coming into play here) I think it's another kick in the balls to ex band members such as Bev who would have loved to be on tour as much as this. I bet he's thinking 'why is Jeff touring this much when he hated doing it back in the day?'

I've done it. I only gone and got ELO tickets for Liverpool!
It was difficult, but hanging on until the general sale paid off for me in the end. The tickets I bought are virtually the same as I had last time I saw Jeff at Liverpool but at the opposite side of the arena.
I bought mine via the venue this time so while I'm going to be confused at the differing angle of view I can be smug in the knowledge that I've saved money, got an aisle seat and, boom!, avoided using TicketDisaster .
Just going to have a drink and a lie down now, my nerves are shattered.

As a matter of interest, how do the ticket sales compare with last year or this year? Were the shows sold out straight away or could you get tickets in the days following?

Sorry to put a damper on this thread but I think we are being taken for mugs, the shows next year will basically be the same production (even if a new album comes out) and what with the dvd, vinyl etc to buy too.... You're right, Mr Blue. The set will be 'old' ELO numbers - probably jumbled up with some lesser works.
But...
I though I'd NEVER get to be at an actual show where Jeff plays ELO stuff. After Balance Of Power, I thought he'd put all that behind him. ELO PtII / The Orchestra played the numbers well - but they didn't have Jeff's voice.
If it hadn't been for Chris Evans twisting his arm on that Friday morning radio show in March 2014, we wouldn't have this dilemma.
Have a listen - from 9:50 onwards - Chris daring Jeff to play live again...
Yes, the prices are high-ish - but that's par for the course these days. Thankfully Jeff's popular again - hence the cost. Considering his age, let's keep him going for as long as possible!
