Benson has died, aged 89. Soap was one of my favourite shows in the early 80s. I still watch it occasionally today.

Yes. And, aliens were after him. He's the only character I remember. Didn't watch many episodes.

I watched WKRP. It was really funny to me back then, but I've forgotten a lot about it. All I remember is Dr. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap (whom I remember best) , a guy named Herb (? ) and then the Loni Anderson character.

WKRP seemed waaaaay out there then. Now it's so tame.
Tim Reid (Venus) was in a great show "Franks Place" ('87-'88). He inherited a restaurant in New Orleans. Still have the VSH tapes of those shows. Only one season, very well done. Louis Armstrong's "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?" was the opening song.
(off topic, sorry)

BSJ OMG!! I LOVED "Frank's Place!" It was on TV when I was miserable and living on my own for the first time in OKC, and it reminded me of home so much, and Tim Reid reminded me a little of an older version of my oldest brother, too. It was such a great show, entertaining while addressing serious topics and all kinds of New Orleans idiosyncrasies... Thanks! You've inspired me to look it up again! I'll order the DVDs if I can get them.

eloneen , I thought for sure you would know the show. Been eons since I watched it. I was cleaning out about a six months ago and found the tapes. I understand why that show would give you comfort. I loved Tim Reid. He was my favorite on WKRP. Nothing false about him. I’ve forgotten a lot of it. Love the waitress. Wasn’t she picky about who she served? I can’t find it on DVD. I just checked, it's on YouTube

"Frank's Place" is not available in recorded form because of legal issues related to broadcast vs. videorecording rights to the music in the shows... Alas, I still have my memories! Available on Youtube, you say? Binge watching this weekend chez Eloneen! Thanks!
