The Orchestra put on a fine show in Lancaster. They had an 8 piece line up, which was bigger than I expected: Hux on guitar and vocals; Eric Troyer - guitar, keyboards; Mik on violin; Lou Clark on keys; Lou Clark Jr on cello; Gordon Townsend on drums; Glen Burtnik on bass; and one more whose name I didn't catch, but he handled a fair bit of the vocals and also played guitar. they played at least 20 songs, including DOHW, Ma Belle and Fire on High - none of which I had heard live before. Fire on High was a highlight for me. I kept expecting them to mix in something from the No Rewind album, but they stuck strictly to Jeff Lynne material - giving the audience what they came for. Lou Clark is getting old, had trouble standing, on the plus side that meant the audience didn't have to wait around for the encore - just a brief pause before they announced that Lou wanted to do 2 more! it's not just Lou that's getting old, the crowd were almost all older than me Eric Troyer is battling some kind of vocal cord issue - no singing for 10 days on Doctor's orders. But for the most part, the band sounded great. Few off notes from the string section, but when Mik had solos they were terrific. I see they have added a couple of shows in Annapolis this October - I may go to celebrate my birthday. I've got a new phone and I'm still learning about the camera - but hopefully I can pick out a few of the better ones and figure out how to get them posted. eloneen - they are a must see for as big a fan as you are and they might not be around too many more years. Perhaps you need to sell your husband on a trip to the beach rather than pitching it as a concert trip.

Glad you enjoyed The Orchestra's show, orioles70 - their "eighth man" would have been Cliff Hillis. Does this look like him? www.cliffhillis.com/index/(P.S. Lou Senior has trouble walking because he fell seriously ill with kidney and heart problems a few years ago. He's used a wheelchair since.)

yes, that's him. LOL - the "photo" that convinced me is the poster titled "Who the hell is Cliff Hillis" - glad he has a sense of humor!

Perhaps you need to sell your husband on a trip to the beach rather than pitching it as a concert trip. We'll have to see. I want to go, but it's a little more complicated than just convincing him to go. The best thing will probably be for me to go alone and drive the 2.5 hours back home the same night. I'd need to rest up all day for that, especially since I have a work-related trip to take the day after the concert. How much were the tickets? How big was the venue? What was the size of the crowd?

eloneen - Now I know what it means to be quoted out of context The venue in Lancaster seats about 1600. They didn't sell out but I'd guess there were about 1250 in the seats. Tickets were $49. I had a business trip that was originally supposed to conflict with the concert, but I kept a close eye on sales and was able to buy a decent seat the day before. In fact the section was sold out, but then 4 seats opened up. Otherwise I'd have been off to the side or up in the balcony.

orioles70 Thanks! Please let me know where/how you purchased your concert tickets. I'm having trouble finding where to buy them. Thanks!

Here's a sample of Bev narrating Tony Iommi's audiobook, "Iron Man - My Journey through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath".
(Only a sample! Not the full 11 hours!)
