Recorded this way back in 2013 on the greatly missed "Vintage TV". The Orchestra's Mik Kaminski & Eric Troyer interviewed backstage at Rewind Festival. sendvid.com/w9ctnhk2Had to upload it to a site that won't hit me for copyright etc. (Official vid clips played).

From Johnny Walker's Sounds of the 70's: If anyone remembers Renaissance (sort of prog/folk, lots of double-necks and beards) and their 1978 hit Northern Lights, their rather gorgeous lead singer, Annie Haslam, was Roy Wood's girlfriend at the time.

Love the song, as I have said before 1978 is my favourite year for music and Northern Lights is right up there with the best...

Wonder if Roy had a hand in that song, as there's quite a lot going on, but no sadly, no bagpipes?

I had to really listen. It sounds familiar, but I'm not sure if I've heard this song before.

I didn't know until yesterday that Renaissance had it's roots with the Yardbirds. The things you learn that you never knew you didn't know!

It was the same for me, queenofthehourswhen you start reading the bios of musicians, it's amazing how often you find links to familiar places brings to mind the title of Dave Morgan's memoir "Patterns in the Chaos"

On no. Chris Kamara has put out a Christmas album and there's s big-band/swing version of *that* song and I think Woody was involved.
There is a video but can't find it.

Hmm, will reserve judgement till I hear it. Mind you, a good song can take being adapted into almost any genre

I bet going out was a nightmare, "have you been using my mascara and make up again Roy?"
