Long time lurker, first time typer! I was at the Hyde Park gig in London. If anyone seen a guy who looked like he was 10 years too young to have been born, nevermind to buy a 1981 tour t-shirt, HELLO! That's me!
Anyway, I was thinking about the Down The Lane And Far Away" sampler CD, and can totally remember a YouTube video leaking some previews. Is this still available in any form? I never got to listen to it, and I'm craving some new JL after the hype train of Hyde Park!
Cheers all!

Welcome PD, hope you enjoyed Hyde Park. I'm not sure if the previews are still available, Nicolas form the Discovery site may know, I'm sure he will be along soon.

Welcome to the board, Donoghue.
A couple of years back, I came across a Polish fan site that featured all of the samples from the CD posted in .mp3 format. Let me do some digging to see if it's still around. If I find it again, I'll PM you the link.
PM stands for projectile macaroni, by the way.

Thanks Horace and Rob for the kind welcomes, and your replies. It's been bugging me for a while, so why not dig in and get involved eh?
Polish fan sites, that's some intense Google translation work using Projectile Macaroni, am I right?

That youtube video of the sampler was taken down very quick at the time, leading to speculation that Jeff had some future plans for those songs.

Hello, welcome Peter Donoghue. I remember that Polish site too, the clips were very tantalising.

Of the clips I've heard, the most promising ones are "Sally", "Stardust", and "Sleepwalk".

Sadly gone.
That doesn't mean it won't show up again somewhere else.

Sadly gone. That doesn't mean it won't show up again somewhere else. The samples are still featured on the Polish fan site mentioned earlier. I already sent the link to Mr. Donoghue in a personal message several days ago, but am reluctant to post the link in a regular thread as I had done a while back on the ELO Forever forum... for obvious (but secret) reasons. The three most promising tracks are actually "My Prayer", "Goodbye My Love" and "Sleepwalk", by the way. Anyone who has ears that aren't covered in mayo would know that.

My most esteemed gentleman (mistrust very flattering introductions, they usually come followed by a favour's request)! Would you mind sending me the link by PM too? I would be most thankful. And PM stands for "premarital".

And PM stands for "premarital". Yes, premarital... marriage. You can expect to receive a message containing the link within the next several measurements of time. If others would like to be sent to the gul... this link as well, I'm sure either Horace or Queen (or Chippa) would know of a way to send it out en masse.

"Saturday night at the duckpond", that's the most promising.

Hubby is in charge of security/firewalls for a large corporation, so I asked him about this. This is an area of the world well know for malware. Please be careful!!
