Paul McCartney won round two and moves onward and upward.
Round three commences now!
(remember to vote in the poll or your vote won't count)

Both artists have great longevity and several great songs.
And then on the one hand, Prince is a lot better at musical instruments. On the other hand, it can be argued that Peter Gabriel is more unique at visuals, costumes, and theatrics.
Kind of a tough call for me; but I'll let the deciding factor be that 1) Probably more of Peter Gabriel's songs stand the test of time for me personally. 2) Prince's vocals can sometimes let sentimentality override substance, and it gets on my nerves sometimes. Also too little shame and prudence at times, although it is very cool how he grew out of that when he became a Jehovah's Witness.
So guess the coin toss for me lands for Peter Gabriel.

Close to a coin toss for me. Both are brilliant, and I love Peter Gabriel, but I think Prince had a very rare level of musical talent. Prince gets my vote.

Both geniuses, but Prince holds a special place in my heart because his music was always playing in my house, growing up.

As much as I love his 80's output, Prince's output after that wasn't nearly as memorable.
For me, it's Gabriel.

This might be the hardest choice yet, first I agreed with eloneen about Prince's level of talent, but then I agreed with Chippa about Prince maybe losing it a bit in later years. Going for Peter Gabriel, for bringing out some really interesting songs over a long period, and not being afraid to make fun of himself (eg in the Brian Pern series)

Yeah but only ten people have voted. I would keep the poll going until the tie is broken.

Still tied, and I'm not putting both guys back into the poll. Vote, if you haven't. I won't be around until Sunday to start a new round.

Doesn't Horacewimp have a casting vote? Or we could wait for BSJ to return.

Doesn't Horacewimp have a casting vote? Or we could wait for BSJ to return. I have already voted for Prince, it looks like someone has broken the deadlock
