Do you want a thread on religion, politics and controversial subjects, please read below what a YES or NO vote will mean.
NO VOTE: No threads on these subjects will be allowed
YES VOTE: A new folder will be added to the Open Discussion section for these topics. The folder will have restricted viewing, meaning only members can view the threads, any guest visiting the site will not have access to the threads.
The poll will run for one week.

I personally would prefer that this forum is strictly ELO and Related. And not to be watered down by other non related topics, as too me, they are Spam. There are plenty of other forums and websites to debate other issues. I don't want to say 'I told you so.....' But heres my only an only post thread (it was the 2nd post).... I have psychic powers!!!

I'm not finding a way to vote (activity threshold?) but being disappointed to find that style of discussion here, I'd vote no if I could.

YES VOTE: A new folder will be added to the Open Discussion section for these topics. The folder will have restricted viewing, meaning only members can view the threads, any guest visiting the site will not have access to the threads. This seems like the most reasonable solution if the biggest fear among members was how the thread made the board appear to onlookers. ... but it's a fool's errand voting "yes". Members would prefer to have an area for these subjects prevented for forming outright rather than having it hidden from guests, and abstaining from viewing the new folder themselves. Horace, if both you and Queen do not want there to be such an area or folder, why should us non moderators have a say in what is done? This whole situation shouldn't have been a big deal to begin with, but now it is.

No...a million times, no! Like I said, we had a section like that on ELO Forever, and not only did it become very confrontational, but it caused people to leave the board, or not participate in other threads.

No, obviously. This isn't the place for that.

Yes! If you don't like it, don't read it, but don't say others can't. Don't cater to people happy to be at a Rolling Stone magazine level of deep their entire life, there is way more to life than that.
Let's get each other thinking outside of the box for a change. Forget the same ol' same ol'.

Can there at least be an accurate title for this poll, like for instance:
"Since most among us want ignore that pre-marital sex, abortion, and smoking pot are sins, do we really want to talk about Jesus if we don't have to? Yes or No?"

I'm going to vote No, because this isn't a forum for that sort of discussion and I'm sure there are loads of forums out there that are set up for it. And people there will have a whole armoury of arguments which will make the conversations much more satisfying.
If anyone feels their beliefs are being attacked here then private messages is maybe a better place to address it just like any other personal matter. But to bring up the subject of religion generally isn't what most of us are here for, and the poll results seem to back this up.
I also agree with Rob2095 that it should be the moderators' ultimate decision, otherwise why have mods at all?

"Our Father which art in Heaven, I didn't understand..." - Jeff Lynne, "Heaven Only Knows" alternate take. Shouldn't we quit worrying about being offended and start caring more about what is true, for a change? Jim
