If you had to choose between only being able to hear Phil Collins' music in the context of Genesis or as a solo artist, which would you select?

Third Option please. I thought about it when I made the list, but figured, I would just keep it for the Phil fans. Jim

Genesis, just slightly. His solo stuff tended to be a bit saccharine, at times. Still a lot of great stuff there, though.

Yeah, it's hard to knock "In the Air Tonight", "Take Me Home", and "Billy Don't Lose That Number". Maybe someday I'll treat myself to compile a best of Phil from Genesis and his solo albums.
Ah, there's a thread right there. To paraphrase DLR in "Unchained", "hey hey hey hey, one thread of ten best Phil songs coming u-up, ..."

Solo, some of that early Genesis stuff with Phil is a bit long winded for me.

Third Option please. Does "mute" serve as a satisfying 3rd option for you, Ms Elophile? I prefer his solo stuff, it's more direct and less pretentious.

I like both but Genesis was more interesting.

One interesting tidbit is that the Genesis hit "Misunderstanding" was going to be on a Phil Collins solo album, before Genesis took it for their "Duke" album.
