I haven't seen a thread like this and I thought this would be fun.
Who would you like to see Jeff Lynne jam with, and what songs from their respective catalogs would you like for them to play together? This is just for fun! No living musician/singer is off limits! Everyone has their favorites, so let's see what we come up with!!I've said elsewhere that I'd love to see JL and Daryl Hall play together. (The Time concert was music heaven for 16 year old eloneen! ) Here are the songs I'd have them perform together: Songs from Jeff Lynne:"Evil Woman" "Showdown" "The Bouncer" "Surrender" "Secret Lives" (because it sounds like it could be a Hall and Oates song from the early 1980s) "Strange Magic" "Take Me On and On" (Daryl Hall is great with soulful, bluesy songs and snarky lyrics. I'm not sure he could be as restrained vocally as those last two songs might call for. He tends to get a bit ...exuberant. ) (Maybe "Four Little Diamonds" or "Sorrow About to Fall" ?) Songs from Daryl Hall / Hall and Oates:
"She's Gone" (Great song, but if you have not seen the promo video for this, believe me when I tell you that it is the absolute worst video I have EVER seen (early 1970s). Cringeworthy! Unbelievable! Their clothes, the other "characters" and "props", terrible lip syncing, and DH looks very, very high!) "Wait for Me" "Rich Girl" "It's a Laugh" "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid" "Dreamtime" (because it sounds like ELO) (I think the first three would work especially well because, in addition to having a sound that works, Jeff sings a lot about the absent lover, and very bad women.) (Maybe "How Does it Feel to be Back?" ) Now your turn!

I'd like Jeff Lynne to play along Per Gessle. The king of chords management with the king of melodies, at least that's what each of these two underappreciated geniuses are in my book. I think they are extremely compatible but sadly they never got to know each other. For me it's the Lennon-McCartney that could have been but never was. Songs from Jeff Lynne / Electric Light Orchestra (it's 7 per side, right?) :- Sweet is the night - Summer and lightning - Blown away - Midnight blue - Can't get it out of my head - Julie don't live here (it's the kind of stuff Per would love) - Telephone line (to close with a big hit) Songs from Per Gessle / Roxette / Gyllene Tider:- Almost unreal - Small talk - I'll be alright - Joanna says - Church of your heart - Solsken (Jeff would love it) - How do you do? (to close with a big hit) Again, between the two of them I could easily name 70 songs, I just chose the ones which happen to be my favourites from them at the moment. If I were a Carlos-Slim-level millionaire I'd put no matter how much money to get these two together, it would be glorious.

Helmut83 Thanks for your list!! I did not have a specific number of songs in mind for the list, but that was what I came up with for each one. I also thought that "Telephone Line" and "Sweet is the Night" from ELO, and "Do What You Want, Be What You Are" from H&O would be good, but the list was getting long, and these songs are very special to me just as they are-- "Sweet" because of KG's sweet voice sharing lead vocals, and the other two because they are my favorite ELO and H&O songs.

When thinking of my list of 5 desert island albums, I thought about the Eagles and how JL is a good friend of Joe Walsh. Wouldn't it be great for Jeff Lynne to jam with the surviving Eagles? (Are the Eagles still on speaking terms with each other? ) Eagles' Songs:
"Heartache Tonight" (I just heard this on the radio today, and I think it would be a great one for them to do together! I can just hear it already!) "Take it to the Limit" ( love the harmonies and background vocals here) "Witchy Woman" "Lyin' Eyes" "Desperado" "Take it Easy" "Hotel California" (some great guitar fun to be had here!) ELO songs:"Can't Get it Out of My Head" "Strange Magic" "Wild West Hero" (great harmonies) "Evil Woman" "Don't Bring Me Down" "Showdown" "Four Little Diamonds" (some great guitar fun to be had here!)

Dream jam would be with Neil Hannon,of Divine Comedy fame - a huge fan of Jeff's and with a total genius for lyrics (which Jeff himself admits are not his strongest talent) Match made in heaven.
