Absolutely - one of the myths I'm hoping will finally be laid to rest with my upcoming book is that ELO wasn't a group in the traditional sense. Most of their basic instrumental tracks were recorded in the studio, with additional keyboards usually handled by Richard or sometimes Jeff. Sure, there were a few exceptions to each person's usual role (which I'll be covering in greater detail than I ever could here), but from the beginning right through to around 1981, the credits for each album were fairly accurate. Secret Messages especially is quite misleading, since Dave contributed far more than Kelly, despite only being listed as an additional player. Also, there's very little of Bev's drumming on Balance Of Power, though all the cymbal and percussion overdubs were his. If anyone was misrepresented, it's the cellists, whose few bits were mainly buried under the orchestra added later. I'm confused. Whats not traditional about that. Are you saying at no point would Jeff,Bev, Richard and Mike/Kelly play together? i.e., every track was laid down individually? No, I'm saying that with a few exceptions, most of the classic era songs were recorded by the core band members together, the myth being that ELO was always a glorified Lynne solo project (at least following Roy Wood's departure)...

I have to admit that since about 2010,I listen to all things ELO via the computer and/or MP3 player. I haven't had a music system for about 7 years now BUT... my son is leaving for Uni in September so to celebrate him moving out for 4 years,I'm turning his room into my mancave and I'm hoping to acquire a new audio set up in which to play my vinyl! Roll on Autumn or 'the fall' as our colonial cousins call it (good name for a song that-'colonial cousins'....)

My son is away at uni but comes home so regularly we don't get chance to use his room for anything, plus they get really long breaks at Christmas, Easter and of course four months in the summer. Be prepared to be evicted from your mancave on a regular basis!

Our son doesn't come home every weekend (it just feels like it), at least once a month he turns up, complete with laundry, and we have the privilege of paying his train fares every time. You will miss him, it is really hard the first time you say goodbye, but you get used to it.

Has anybody heard anything about a change of release date? I was expecting my copy tomorrow, ordered through Amazon Prime, but they are saying they do not have a release date yet, and HMV are quoting January 2019!!
