Ya, but I wasn't putting up with your BS! So if you were a guy you would be a rough macho who doesn't play girlies' games even if it means losing the love of a few of them...

OK. Here's a new one: "Workin' Out," inspired by my (and perhaps my hubby's ?) newfound resolve to get fit and shed the weight accumulating around the waist in middle age, which in my family is the inevitable precursor to heart disease and diabetes, just for starters. We have a treadmill and some small weights and various other fitness equipment items at home, and more than a few workout videos. Time to dust them off!! (I actually started a week ago, and I'm doing well so far!) Maybe some of you in my age group can relate? "Workin' Out" (to the tune of "Steppin' Out")Pick up all those weights. We're gonna be lifting, sooner than I thought. Toss those snacks you bought! Pounds are gathering! Say goodbye to all those chips! We're gonna be hungry! For a while that's how it goes. But then again who knows, about this weight? I'm workin' out! I'm gettin' fit! I'm gonna wear those clothes that used to fit so well! Workin' out! I'm gonna use that treadmill! Ooh, I'm workin' out! Did you hear what she* said? (*the doctor) Said "You've gotta change your habits." She thought I'd, thought I'd say "No way!" She said "The time is now." What should I do? And then I saw the scale and the number it was showing! Though I thought I looked OK, I don't want heart disease -nor diabetes! No, no, not me!! I'm workin' out! I'm gettin' fit! I'm gonna wear those clothes that used to fit so well. Workin' out! I'm gonna use that treadmill! Ooh, I'm workin' out! I'm workin' out! I'm workin' out! I'm workin' out! I'm workin' out! I'm workin' out! Gonna use that treadmill! Etc., etc.

May I humbly submit my attempt, inspired by the spooky ways of cats and their quest to bend other pets to their will.
To the tune of "Save Me Now" from Armchair Theatre:
One day the dog woke up and said "Boy, it's quiet round here" What's happened to the cat, staring at me like that, it's making me feel queer Sometimes I wish he'd stop that yowling day and night But this silent treatment's bugging me, it really isn't right
Say meow, say meow, say meow Come on and Say meow, say meoowwwww Say meow
One day the dog woke up and said "Boy, that kitty's grim" And remember all those treats I had, I had to give them all to him Who would ever know that cat could win at hypnotising me 'til the spell is broken with a mew I never will be free
Say meow, say meow, say meow Come on and Say meow, say meowwwww Say meow

Great work, Uno, you've clearly felt the power of the inscrutable feline stare.

Here's "We'd Be So Happy, Jeff Lynne," my rewrite of "The Bouncer." It's on behalf of all of the American fans who would love to see ELO do a real USA tour soon!
Do you remember, in the USA, That you have fans who would love to see you play? We've been wondering, and we've been hoping: What are your plans? Only you can say!
We'd be so glad to see you onstage! We'd jump and shout --yeah, despite our age! That's what we want! We'd be so happy, Jeff Lynne!
There are some venues that you could play Beyond the ones in New York and LA. We all miss you, and we would like to Go to your concerts! Please find a way!
And when we read about the gigs you've just done, We say "Please, Jeff, can't we have some fun?" That's what we want! We'd be so happy, Jeff Lynne!
Extensive touring may seem kind of boring. Of course, we'll thank the stars above us! A short tour, 'cause you love us? That's what we want! We'd be so happy, Jeff Lynne!
Believe us, Team Jeff, when we say, We'd really, really want to see Jeff Lynne's ELO play! For the shows that they've done on this tour Have just blown our minds!
And when we sing, as fans, together, That's how we want it to be, want it to be forever. That's what we want! We'd be so happy!
That's what we want! We'd be so happy!
That's what we want! We'd be so happy!
That's what we want!
We'd be so happy, Jeff Lynne!
