Here is a little known song which was penned by Roy Wood in 1969 for the band Acid Gallery. Woody supplies the backing vocals.
"Dance Round The Maypole" by Acid Gallery.

Bit ploddy, not one of Woody's best imho I agree with you unomusette,
It's possibly a song that Woody wrote for The Move and he didn't think it worthy of recording as a single. Woody seemed to be having a creativity crisis in 1969, Curly was a weak single, Bev Bevan hated it, Curly's 'B' side was "This Time Tomorrow" which was written by Dave Morgan of The Ugly's. In the 1980's Morgan joined ELO as a touring member. Here is a Dave Morgan penned song by The Ugly's, The ultra rare "I See The Light", In the band photo on the video you can see Richard Tandy seated on the far left complete with moustache. Morgan is on the far right in the photo, the future Wizzard drummer, Keith Smart is also in the photo, right on the front row.

Great song, sort of a hybrid of The Move and early ELO. What a hoot to see Richard with that moustache too, not to mention those heels...
I don't mind Curly as song, apart from the recorder, but when you consider how wild the Move could be I can understand how Bev might hate it. I like This Time Tomorrow too, if it's the one I'm thinking of.

This style of footwear was popular with "The Beatles" and their fans.
This Time Tomorrow was sung by bassist Rick Price, the song has a beautiful haunting melody.
Here it is.

Aw my mom really likes the song Curly and so do I but yeah I think Bev Bevan said that it was too sugary (like poppy) for his liking but each to their own!
