Time for the spooky! We've done a similar thread to this, but I think it was on the old forum. I searched in this one but couldn't find anything so I'm opening up this thread now. Also, we've got many new participants who might want to tell their stories so I think it's worth doing it again. Did you ever had a paranormal experience? Were and when? What happened? Was it terrifying or was it just weird? Tell us your story or stories related to ghosts, poltergeists, spirits, objects that moved on their own with no explanation, voices, noises or any kind of activity you'd classify as paranormal.

Dang, there's Rob2095 commenting on that thread. He was such a smart and fun guy, and during a lot of time the only member wishing to speak about things other than ELO.
There's also Jefflynnenut, whom during a relatively short time was very participative on the forum. Then he wasn't around any longer but last we knew he was OK.

Dang, there's Rob2095 commenting on that thread. I noticed that. Gives the title of that thread new meaning. I say that not as a joke but in all seriousness.

In fact I thought about that too when I saw Horace's post. You were around in those times, one of the very few (heck, you were already there when I joined in!). You must remember him. Not sure how you got along with him; as happens with most of the intelligent people, he was a bit hot-tempered. His nick on the old forum used to be DiscoverMe, remember?

Haha, yeah, he had a temper, to the point that he was kicked out of the forum once, then allowed back, so I'm not surprised you clashed a little with him because you weren't the only one. For some reason he liked me so I never had a fight with him; we shared a passion for conversations about the most trivial topics in the style of the one you can see there about witches. He wrote with style and wit. I thought you were there before me because I recall seeing the blue violin since many years ago, but I could be wrong, or maybe we joined in around the same time. Out of the guys who are still around, I think the only ones who have been longer than I are Chippa, Eloise and 88keys, and I thought you were there as well but now your question makes me doubt. Anyway, let's get back from the forums' past and kick start the paranormal stories thingy!

I thought you were there before me because I recall seeing the blue violin since many years ago, but I could be wrong. I guess I don't really have a clue which of us was there first. Maybe Chippa knows. We're both so memorable after all - it's probably seared into his memory!! Yes, I agree... back to ghost stories... scary shit is my third favorite thing after ELO and dogs. Plus, I've got a few of my own stories to share.

The strange thing is I can't remember which was my avatar picture on the old forum, because I've had this GIF only since I was here, and not even from the very beginning. Maybe it was just a normal, still picture of G'mork... Yes, I agree... back to ghost stories... scary shit is my third favorite thing after ELO and dogs. Plus, I've got a few of my own stories to share. Then what are you waiting for? I'd love to hear them, come on!

I'll start and I expect you to follow, elophile. Besides a couple "what the hell was that" moments, I've only once had what you could call a paranormal experience. This must have been about 13 or 15 years ago. My best friend's family (they are all friends of mine really) live in a house not far from my place. One day I was there playing computer games and everyone else had gone to other further parts of the house. I was really concentrated in the game but saw -or that I thought- through the corner of my eye someone arrived from the leaving room and was leaning on the door's frame watching me play, a scarce one or two metres away from me (the door was at my 8 o'clock, to give you an idea of the position... not fully behind my back, but more beside my left shoulder, a bit backwards). I was sure it was one of my friends' brothers who had been there before playing with me and had come back, and I commented a couple of things to him while I was playing. He didn't answer, which was kind of strange, so when the game allowed me I turned to him and... no one was there. It was as if he had disappeared the moment I looked at him. So I stood up, crossed the door to the living room and looked to see if someone was hiding, but no one was there either. So I went to the garden where my friend and his brothers were and asked if any of them had just been there. They said "no" so I was like "WTF?", and then immediately my friend made the connection and said "oh, yeah, it must have been the guy, don't worry". At first I thought he was kidding but then he explained to me what he was talking about: One day they were having dinner all together and the mother said "you'll think I'm crazy, but it's been ages now that I've been feeling a presence in that area of the living room which is close to the computer room, and at times even inside the computer room". She hadn't said anything before for fear of not being taken seriously (besides, one of her sons, my best friend, can be a bit cynical al times with that sort of things). Immediately her daughter said "yeah, I've been feeling the same!" and then every other member of the family said that they had felt that presence several times. The funny thing is that all of them had remained silent about it for fear of being called crazy. No one had fully seen him, but everyone had seen him through the corner of their eyes, or more kind of "felt him". And for further proof all of them agreed that he was a man, and quite tall, exactly the same sensation I had gotten. So yeah, it was clear that I had seen "the guy" as well. However weird the whole experience was, I must say I didn't feel anything scary or intimidating about the presence. If there are, as they say, good and bad poltergeists this one gave a feeling of not being a bad one. In fact my friend's family members say they got used to him "popping up" from time to time and they are not afraid of him. In the worst of cases you feel observed but nothing about him feels harmful, dark or sinister.

My little 3 year old nephew comes over to my house a lot, and a couple of times he sat talking to himself about putting bricks in the chimney. I laughed, asking him what he was talking about and he replied " I'm talking to the old man".
Yeah, scared the fuck out of me. lol.

My freshman year in college I was living with two roommates in a cramped off-campus apartment in a once luxury hi-rise Art Deco hotel which had been converted into apartments and was rumored to be haunted. Our apartment consisted of two rooms: a livingroom/kitchen and a small bedroom stuffed with three beds. This was in the city and roomie-one had a crush on twenty-something year old “dude” who lived in an apartment across the alley from ours.
One night me and roomie-one where in the bedroom crouched in front of the window spying on “dude” - we had the lights off obviously so he wouldn’t see us peering out at him. Roomie-two was in the livingroom/kitchen and the door between the two rooms was closed. Looking out the window me and roomie-one were both facing away from the door that separated the two rooms. I heard roomie-two open the door and enter the bedroom and without turning around I called her over to come see what “dude” was up to. She said something but after a while I noticed that she never joined us at the window. I turned around and she wasn’t there! I was completely freaked-out and too scared to cross the dark room so I called out for roomie-two to come into the bedroom which she did. Until that moment she had never come into the bedroom after all!
Upon reflection roomie-one and I agreed that we had both heard someone enter the room. We both heard the blankets on one of the beds rustle as they passed by. We both heard them say something but we both couldn’t remember what it was that they said...

Wow, elophile! I'm impressed by how similar your experience was to mine! It's a strange impression talking to someone, then turning around and seeing there was no one. Did you guys feel scared from then on? Hey, maybe "Dude" was so hot even poltergeists wanted to see him in the shower.
