It's July 4th- the second of the three "grilling holidays" (as I call them) in the US. In addition to watching the fireworks and feasting on hamburgers and hot dogs, in our house we will also read the Declaration of Independence and reflect on what it means for all of us to live up to those principles in these interesting times. America's history has been a challenging and often bloody journey of trying to understand and live up to those ideals. We're not there yet, but it's important to still keep trying! Happy Independence Day y'all!! Stay cool and safe, and enjoy the feast!

Thanks guys! Nice flag made of balls and great cake (the animal on top of it is subject to interpretation and I can freely interprete it's a llama, as Uno says).
We are celebrating our Independence Day under a big downpour, with our streets half flooded. At midday it was empanadas with my family. Usually that's pretty much it, people don't do as much about it as in the USA, maybe flags hanging from the windows or balconies and a few military parades downtown but it's too far from where I live to attend, particularly this year under this rain.

Unfortunatlely no, my brothers in law were put on notice that my mother was making empanadas so they came and the effect was similar to that of a locust plague. I'll save you a few next time.
