I just bought my ticket to see ANWR in Virginia next month!! Mr. Eloneen is not interested in attending, even though he enjoyed their concert when we saw them two years ago. The venue is only about two hours way, so I'll just drive up and back the same evening. Anyone else on the forum planning on going to one of their shows? The tickets are reasonably priced and the band is REALLY good!! They have quite a few dates scheduled in various regions of the US.

I went to see ANWR last night in Hopewell, VA at the Beacon Theater, a beautiful and small, but grand, old venue that hosts many tribute acts, I discovered. What a great show!! It was a 2+ hour drive to get there, but I knew it would be worth it because I had seen them before and had been mightily impressed. On the way up I stopped at the Virginia Welcome Center for a short break and to pick up a new free Virginia bumper sticker for my photo. The two older gentlemen at the reception desk liked my t shirt and talked with me about ELO. I had a seat on the third row, kind of stuck in between two nice couples, the best seat I could get in that section at the time I bought it. ANWR played a superb set of 20 ELO songs (with a short break halfway through)!! I had a great time singing, dancing in my seat, and finally getting up and dancing during the second half of the show for a few songs. It was kind of cramped, and dancing in the aisles was not allowed. I made the best of it, though. I lost my sticky note with the songs in order , but here's the complete list, at least, but definitely not in the correct order: Tightrope (opener) Telephone Line Rockaria! Don't Bring Me Down Evil Woman Livin' Thing Jungle Mister Blue Sky Confusion Last Train To London Showdown Do Ya Strange Magic Can't Get It Out Of My Head Turn To Stone Sweet Talkin' Woman Shine A Little Love All Over the World Hold On Tight Roll Over Beethoven (finale) I could say a lot about the evening, but suffice it to say that these guys are fabulous! I found myself surprised and delighted each time they played a song that I had not heard them play before, or had never heard live at all (Confusion, for example). They did a great job with all of them. Hold on Tight was interesting, not as BIG a sound as on the recording, but very well done all the same. The audience was composed of mostly casual local ELO fans who had never seen ANWR perform before. I told everyone around me what a treat it would be, and they agreed with me afterwards. I met a few serious fans, including one 15 year old who had seen the real ELO in DC earlier in the summer, as well as The ELO Experience. He said that ANWR was almost as good as the real thing, and much, much better than the other tribute band. I would agree, from what I've seen. I talked with the band leader during the break and with several members after the show. They remembered me from the concert I went to in July 2017, when I met them after the show and took a picture on stage with them. The band leader invited me backstage to say hello to them again, and to chat with them after the show, being impressed with how far I'd come to see them. They even gave me some ANWR swag (some stickers with their logo and a business card for their manager/leader Nigel Holland). Sweet people! FYI: I put in a request to add Big Wheels to the set list. Mr. Holland told me about a couple of songs that they are planning to add soon and about a few upcoming gig dates for them that had not yet been announced. I had to add in a new ANWR Virginia concert photo to replace the old one! I'm sporting the same ELO t shirt I wore for the first concert, and of course, my $1.00 shades. For less than $40, I'd say the return (in the form of FUN) on investment here was huge! If you have a chance to see ANWR, check them out. They have dates already advertised in a number of states around the US for the next 12 months.

this seems to be a different tribute band Electric Lynne Orchestra they are playing a show in Northern Virginia on Friday night while Parthenon is doing a show about 25 miles away on the same night has anyone seen them? I'll be at the P Hux show. But I wouldn't rule out seeing the tribute band another time. www.theeloshow.com/

Great! Another tribute band is always a thumbs up! I won't be able to make any of the advertised dates, but if they have some shows in the summer at a time when I'm free, and if they were to perform closer to my area, I'd consider going to see them. BIuebird and elophile are much closer. Maybe one of them would be interested in seeing this band live at one of the shows listed on the website?

Helmut83 I discovered this today and thought you might appreciate it! It's the tribute band A New World Record, performing Jungle live. You get the whole song here! Enjoy!

Heck, Eloneen! You are so lucky! The first thing I thought when I saw your setlist is "Eloneen gets to see 'Jungle' played live, again???". It's like every ELO tribute show you attend plays it, but you are the only one on this forum with such luck. Thanks for sharing ANWR's version, I enjoyed it. Despite it being a harmonically easy song, it doesn't seem like an easy song to play live and these guy did a good job.

Helmut83 Our friend orioles70 has also seen them perform Jungle live a couple of times, too! I'm looking forward to the time when I can feel safe going to concerts again. Next week my husband and I are going to go to an inexpensive outdoor dinnertime performance by a local old school R & B band. It's supposed to have a low-key picnic vibe, with lawn seating, bring your own chair, social distancing, etc.

Oh, did he? Lucky as well, it was never a mainstream song, not the kind that you'd expect to find in an average setlist.

If all goes well and we're not plunged into lockdown again I'm seeing the tribute band "ELO Again" at carfest in late August. Have any forumheads seen them?
