Today is Memorial Day in the US, when we remember those who have given their lives in service to the country, and all those who have served our country in the US Armed Forces, deceased and living, past and present. Thanks and honor to my father (WWII veteran), my father-in law (Vietnam War veteran) --both deceased , my uncle (Korean War), my dear husband (veteran of Second Persian Gulf War), and our nephew (veteran of Second Persian Gulf War and still serving). Whatever our feelings about these conflicts (and they are mixed), as Americans, we honor our service members today for their bravery and sacrifice. On a somewhat related note, here is a story about the kind of bravery and heroism we honor today, even though not all of these men were affiliated with the military. www.cnn.com/2017/05/28/us/portland-train-stabbing-victims/
