Yes, if he has someone like Petty and gang, that will help fill the large stadiums.
We have the same problem over here with tickets. And the handling fees are outrageous, adding another chuck of change onto the price. We've a indoor venue that fits maybe 5000, and there is not a bad seat in the house. There is where I would like to see Damey play. Gone are those $7.50 a ticket days! Thinking Jeff's ticket prices will start at $200+ for the same seats we paid $165 for the Eagles a few years ago.

$200!!!! Really?!! And they'll charge you a handling fee on top? I'd forgotten about those fees, what a total rip-off.
I didn't know the tout thing was a problem overseas too, but I suppose where there's money to be made there'll be people who exploit it. And it will always pay as long as there are people prepared to buy at inflated prices, for instance someone was willing to pay £2000 for a seat right at the back of the enormous O2 Arena in London for Coldplay. They'd have been better off staying home and watching a DVD. But those numpties are creating a marketplace for the leeches, urgh!

I agree a smaller venue is the way to go. We know many stars from the '60/'70's play them and fill those seats. He and Richard would be perfect in the smaller venues! I like your idea of Petty and friends touring with him. If he does tour, I hope he doesn't play just "oldies", God love 'im, but play new and rarely heard songs. This would help him with boredom! I'd be shocked if I see him again. Billy Joel has sold out Madison Square Garden into next year! Apparently he's kept his fan base. I am so glad you said that about the oldies! the pop hits are not my favs, looking back. Maybe it's just cos they got overplayed, maybe it's because they always seemed to fit a certain formula, especially in the later years. I mean there are some like Sweet talkin woman and turn to stone and others that I never tire of. But when he played Handle with Care at Hyde it was so damn refreshing! I'm glad he opened with All Over the World, appropriate, and it wasn't as big a hit in the USA. Steppin Out was nice to hear with a better rhythmic feel. But yeah, do some more stuff from solo albums, long wave, armchair, and just some tunes that were on albums but not always the hits.

But the golden question is this. Who here is prepared to put this "Mad Irishman" on their couch when His Lord Damness plays England and the states.....because I'm saving now for the tour? Well? Just line up your addresses and we'll talk! jefflynnenut - if needed, we've a bedroom all set! Just make your way here! Welcome!

i think that as far as the Uk goes shows would be limited to the O2 and Brum (poss Glasgow) but no more than that.Maybe 2 or 3 nights at each venue As far as touts are concerned I'd agree with unomusette. However I do like stubhub cos that's where I got my Hyde park tickets (and paid face value!!)

I think you're right about not many venues but a few nights at each. Scarlet Mist is apparently really good too because they insist on face value only. But for a small venue there just aren't the tickets on offer second hand
