After the Hyde Park Concert what do you think will be Jeff's next move, will he capitalise on the exposure or not?

What I think and what I hope are two separate things! But since hoping is more positive I’ll say Jeff will (hopefully) release a new solo album. I think someone made a mistake not having a new album ready for the Hyde Park gig – it would have gone down well off the back of the show. There are enough greatest hits albums out there – I hope there’ll be no more for a while. I’m not sure I get along with the words “Full Tour” at least not right away. Some more gigs would be good through. I don’t think Jeff’s likely to tour the world just yet.

I'm hopeful and will go for the tour and album. We know the album is very nearly or could now be complete and he has hinted at more gig dates.

New solo album for sure, but I think he'll go for a residency somewhere rather than tour, he's not a lover of roaming about.

Solo album. If his heart isn't into a world tour, I don't want to see him doing it. Maybe a handful of shows here and there- London, Birmingham, LA, New York- but not a rigorous, hundred-city world tour.

I'm a little worried we have had no news on his future plans, maybe he has gone back to LA to become a recluse.

I think Bryan has said recently he has six songs already done with Jeff and I hoped by now he would of finished his solo album. Is hard being a Jeff/ELO fan you never seem to get an update on what's happening with the artist, I also like Apple products they are the same, it's all one big secret

I think somewhere on the old ELO Forever board I read something that said "being an ELO fan is like being on a rollercoaster powered by snails" - too true.

I'm saying album, which we think we know is on the way, and tour, although it may be limited to the major cities. I'm hoping Houston is one of them for I have family there and a sure shot at tickets. Perhaps he could double-bill with Tom Petty. Imagine the fun they could have trotting out some Wilbury tunes, even inviting Dylan for a closing number for example or have Roy Wood as a surprise guest for a few cities. As much as Jeff likes collaborating with other artists this could give him some incentive and what an electric night it would make for. I'd love to see him headline and tour all over the world, but so much time has passed his team really needs to get on the stick and promote the hell out of it, like hire Chris Evans full time just to do that. It worked at Hyde Park and Children in Need. Get PBS to sponsor a classic rockers concert featuring ELO, like they did with John Kay's Steppenwolf. They need to focus on the fans, who grew up on his music, not the pop-hop crowd of today. They will bring their kids who often already have an appreciation having been exposed to this great artist.

We also have to keep in mind that Jeff has been quite open about the fact that he doesn't like to tour. We hope that experiences like Hyde Park will cause his to rethink that. I think part of his reluctance goes back to when his record company execs pushed him to tour, tour, tour the entire world to promote every album. And that he found it difficult to write new material while touring, and would rather have used that time to be in studio. As glamorous as back-to-back world tours sound to most of us, that must have been VERY frustrating for him. Now, if I were his tour manager, I would encourage him to play a series of not-so-mammoth venues, which are often more enjoyable and intimate, for the artist and the crowd. I haven't attended a concert with nosebleed seating in a very long time, and would really only do so if it meant possibly my only chance to see ELO live. Plus smaller (gasp!) venues, like the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville Ar (hint, hint) would help ensure that only the real fans were there and a packed house. I would totally go see a show where it was just Jeff and Richard, playing as a duo for part or even all of the set. Yes the big blow-out mega arena shows are great, but a lot of time has gone by and he may need to rebuild his audience base in order to do that on a consistent level. I know that we here at the forum are clamoring to see ELO tour once more in our lifetimes. I mean how many bands do you know whose members actually go on and tour using the same name+part2 and material just so they can keep working? I cant think of one in the history of music that has done that and had any success with it. My point is there are still a great many people who want to hear this music, just how many of us will get the chance to hear it with Jeff remains to be seen.

I agree a smaller venue is the way to go. We know many stars from the '60/'70's play them and fill those seats. He and Richard would be perfect in the smaller venues! I like your idea of Petty and friends touring with him. If he does tour, I hope he doesn't play just "oldies", God love 'im, but play new and rarely heard songs. This would help him with boredom! I'd be shocked if I see him again. Billy Joel has sold out Madison Square Garden into next year! Apparently he's kept his fan base.

But the golden question is this. Who here is prepared to put this "Mad Irishman" on their couch when His Lord Damness plays England and the states.....because I'm saving now for the tour? Well? Just line up your addresses and we'll talk!

I think Jeff could easily sell out large venues as long as there's the right sort of promotion. As @secretmessenger says, that means targeting his old guard of fans who would want to go for themselves and take their families along. The success of Hyde Park proves it can work I'd love to see him in a smaller venue, only problem here in the UK is the disgusting ticket touts who are horribly well organised and hoover up tickets for any likely-looking gig then immediately post them for inflated prices on the likes of Ebay. They have rooms full of people working on it, plus sites like Viagogo and Seatwave have been revealed to be getting huge blocks of tickets from promoters which they then sell for above face value and share the profits. It's illegal to do this with football tickets but despite an MP trying to get the same rights for event fans the government refuses to do it. I've seen standing tickets at Wembley Stadium sell out in literally two minutes due to this, so gigs at smaller venues are a complete dead loss. Can you guess this is a pet hate of mine? Grrr!
