As a young teen, I always thought that Mel was adorable. I had a little crush on him, probably because of his youthful face. He also seemed shy and quiet (I guess next to Hugh, anyone would!)--basically cute and non-threatening to my rather shy teenage self. I found out later from reading Bev's book that Mel was quite the talker and very much a flirt (with the infamous "Melvyn Gale arm") during his time with ELO! You never know!

I'll go with mines. As I said on another thread, the first one I can remember, when I was about 9 or 10, is the young girl from Jurassic Park: Then when I was a bit older there was this girl from an Australian surf series: Then, much older (and admittedly not long ago, being already an old twerp), it got in my head the idea that the single most desirable lady in the world was another Australian, the protagonist of "The 100" (you might know the series) and I'm not sure I have completely gotten over it:

BTW the Stray Cats guy looks like a lemur, with those eyes that seem too big for that face. Yeah, he has some big old eyeballs! He's like a cartoon person. I still love his magnificent pompadour! He's a very active performer still. I might have to go see a show (for old time's sake)

I don't have my book here with me now to quote directly, but the gist of it is that Mel always found a way to get his arm around the ladies. The other guys called it the "Melvyn Gale Arm." In January, someone posted (in the rare ELO pictures thread) a picture of Mel with his arm around a woman's shoulder, but Kelly had his arm around the same woman's waist!

How/which is my type, elophile (or how would you describe it?)? I'll have to think about it. CUTE? GIRL NEXT DOOR? they're very pretty... maybe I'm detecting a little inner tomboy quality?

Oh, you have just reminded me! I have also had one of those crushes (although not as "romantic" as with the others) on the protagonist of "The Girl Next Door"! THIS SCENE!!! Would melt glaciers...

So you admit I have good taste when it comes to females? Yeah, they are all pretty cute. As you have seen, even the young girl from Jurassic Park grew up to be a beautiful lady. But the girls next door to where I live are more like this: Didn't understand what you said about the tomboy quality. You mean I like tomboys?
