I don't know what to write here. An acknowledge is the best I can do right now.

Just heard this, least he lived to a good age unlike some other musicians we've lost the last couple of years. One of The Beatles' influences, certainly one of the musicians that put the rock into rock and roll. Was of course mentioned in Back to the Future when Marty played Johnny B. Goode (probably the first Chuck Berry song I heard, although The Beatles did their fair share of covers over the years!)
Will be sorely missed.
Forgot that Roll over Beethoven was one of his songs, covered by both our Jeff in ELO's early years (my mom told me she heard ELO's version before she heard The Beatles' cover) and The Beatles by George (Jeff's future best mate!)

I wonder how Jeff is taking the news, assuming that he's heard. Sad news. I hope Jeff is alright.

We'll send a big hug to Jeff. And Paul and Ringo of course My hugs are only for Jeff. I'll do the honours of hugging Paul and Ringo, problem is if I hug Paul, someone would have to pull me off him because I would not be letting go!

Not saying this because he died, I've said it on this forum before: he was the true king of RnR. Forget Elvis, he didn't even write his own songs. Chuck Berry was the real king. So many RnR classics came out of that crazy and creative mind, I don't think anyone can hold a candle to him in that genre. Huge respects to a one-of-a-kind, true legend.

It's all settled then. You'll be busy hugging Paul and Ringo so I will take care of comforting Jeff. I don't want you to have to do all the work after all.

I'm hoping as a tribute, Jeff sings Roll Over Beethoven at the RRHOF induction.

I'm hoping as a tribute, Jeff sings Roll Over Beethoven at the RRHOF induction. Oh, I think there's gonna be a huge all-star jam with more than one of Chuck's songs. To echo what Helmut said, Chuck was the King of Rock n Roll. Hands down. Elvis may have been a bigger phenomenon, but without Chuck none of it would have happened. A great writer(Bob Dylan was hugely influenced by him), singer, performer, and obviously, guitar player. I was honored to have seen Chuck perform live, once. This is that performance. RIPower King.

Lots of artists on the bill-- Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Al Green, Pretenders, Johnny Cash, The Kinks, Aretha, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed..etc.... Chuck and Bruce kicked the show off with this performance.

The elves who run JL's facebook page need to post a small tribute; I gather Jeff is on holiday. Virtually every ELO concert has contained Roll Over Beethoven; although I don't think JL & Chuck ever worked together.....
But anyhow, CB had a good innings!
