hope no one minds that i start my very first thread on the board. i have a shoe fetish. i also believe a person's shoes say quite a lot about who they are, how they live, their style and and their preferences. so naturally i thought this would be a great way to get to know you guys better. so post pics of your favorite pair of shoes or simply describe them if you wish. tell us why you like them or even how you tie your shoelaces. heck, we can also discuss the shoes of our favorite ELO members. let's all walk a mile in each other's footwear! i'll kick things off. Attachment Deletedthese doc martens are definitely my favorite pair. they're unlike the traditional that tend to be a little heavy with thick soles. these are nice and light and i used to wear them everywhere until i got tired of trying in vain to keep them looking clean and sharp. now they're mainly my good pair of "going out" shoes. and of course the grey shoelaces are a must. Attachment Deletedso these are the pair i wear most often. my fifteen-year-old vans that i can get dirty and do rough-and-tumble stuff in. i don't even tie the laces, i just tuck them in. i have been absolutely amazed with how long these shoes have held together. without a doubt the most resilient pair i have ever owned. i've tried going out and buying a fresh pair of vans to replace them, only for the new ones to become a permanent fixture on my shoe rack. irreplaceable these. all right guys. don't leave me hanging. let's see em!

Can't be arsed to go taking pics of me shoes at this time of night, however I found this pic online which shows some boots similar to those I used to buy from a shop in Glastonbury. They were hand made and hand painted and really good value at under £20 a pair. But when you went to the shop you just had to buy whatever they had in your size and hope they'd painted something you liked. Can't remember the name of the shop, it's probably closed down now. I think I still have the last pair I bought somewhere, if I can find them I'll snap 'em for you These days it's mostly about converse for me, I buy them second hand from Ebay. Had a recent spree on comic book ones so I've snagged Catwoman, Superman and another character which escapes me at the moment, think it might be Wonder Woman....

unomusette i love those. do you know what kind of paint they used and how long the artwork would last? are those shoes made of canvas? and converse are always classic. the ones with special artwork are cool as hell! i have a pair of black pinstriped ones that i've had to glue back together several times. i really wanted the Gorillaz converse but alas couldn't afford them at the time.

Great thread idea jiminyjellysolo I have a bit of a shoe fetish myself. Here are my all time favorite boots. I've been wearing them for over a decade. I got them on eBay and they were already old when I got them. They were made in the mid 80's I think. They are the perfect low heeled cowboy boot. The leather is cracking and they're all muffed up but I feel most like myself when I've got them on. Attachment Deleted

very nice elophile. are they comfortable? cowboy boots always looked like torture devices to me, but then again i've never really given them a try either.

I love your Doc’s jiminyjellysolo ! I don’t why I haven't a pair yet.
unomusette – the funkier the better with you. One more facet of your personally shown.
elophile , didn’t you wear those beauties to Damey’s concert? smiley-cool15
Ahhh! Shoes. The best thing in the closet (besides purses and belts). I love leather shoes. I keep mine in their original box and have them re-heeled and re-soled when needed.
These two favorites are 32 years old.
I purchased this boot at Harrods, London. They were one of two I bought that beautiful day. I’ve never seen a shoe department like Harrods. One whole floor just for shoes. I almost knelt. They’re now a little tight around a big toe, but are still the most comfortable I’ve ever owned.
This shoe is from a store here in town, now closed, that had a killer shoe department. No change in the fit and comfort.

elophile , didn’t you wear those beauties to Damey’s concert? smiley-cool15 I did! I did! Thanks for noticing, BSJ Those very boots were on my feet on that glorious occasion! I wore my most comfy clothes (and a fanny-pack) so I could be entirely free to emote/dance/cry as necessary!

Smart gal ! I do the same. They’re now a little tight around a big toe. So the toe must go! Priorities!

I buy for the long relationship, gals. So yes, the toe would go! Who needs 10 of them anyway?

unomusette i love those. do you know what kind of paint they used and how long the artwork would last? are those shoes made of canvas? Not sure what kind of paint it was but the boots were leather and the colours were matte and stayed waterproof. I've been pondering the price, I'm sure I recall only paying £17 for a pair but equally £35 springs to mind. I did have a few pairs over the years though - the first were bought for me by Mr Musette when I had our first daughter. He'd seen them in the second hand shop window, they were definitely only £3 and pretty much brand new. Knowing my legendary "carefulness" with money he knew I'd be even more delighted at the bargain price (and I was) LOVE both of BSJ 's pairs, especially the Harrods ones. It's no wonder they still look so good, the way you cosset them. Nice work.
