The first forum I ever joined was a Muse one, and I was Unintended Musette because I was in my early '40s and had never expected to be swept off my feet by a band again (Unintended also being one of their songs which seemed appropriate). I used the same name on other forums but some wouldn't let you have two words so I came up with Unomusette (Uno being another of Muse's toons) Whatever I join online I always use one or other of them, plus I have hypermusette for my email account (the song reference being the totally brilliant Hyper Music). I ALWAYS have to spell it for people, you wouldn't believe the different ways people try to pronounce it

Because of my experience on the matter I feel like it's my duty to instruct Timeblue about bludgeonings on this forum. Whenever you see that sign it means that the Two Headed Monster is after you. RUN!!!

My online persona became Platypus many years ago when a forum had a big software crash and everyone's screen name became the name of their avatar file. Some people ended up with really weird names, but being Australian I had chosen a platypus as avatar, and it was sensibly called "Platypus". So I just stayed Platypus.

unomusette , what about the french-like "ette" ending? I must say I pinched that from something a man said to his female companion at a Strawbs gig I was at once, she was a mad fan and blethering on about them and he just sighed and said something like "..you're such a Strawb-ette" This stuck in my mind and popped right back up when I was devising my first online persona. Plus, of course I am very feminine and girly, hence the pretty french flourish. Yes, I AM feminine and girly! Argue with me and I'll soon sort you out

I gave my name a lot of thought back in 2001 when I first joined an ELO message board. People used a lot of song titles as their names on my first message board. There was Mr. Blue Sky, 21st Century Man, DBMD, and Sweet Talkin' er...Man. Seriously, a man used the title of 'Sweet Talkin' Woman' but changed the last word to "Man" and that's how he was known. Turns out that ELO doesn't do a lot of songs that a woman can name herself after. I didn't want to be called the Evil Woman for obvious reasons. I wasn't going to name myself after a seductive woman so Painted Lady and Nobody's Child were out. Julie wasn't imaginative enough. One day, Eloise came to me. The first 3 letters are ELO, it's a woman's name, it's perfect.
