You have fooled BSJ but I know exactly what you were implying. Hahahaha I think I know exactly what type of job you were referring to Helmut83 so don't act all innocent again! It doesn't suit you! Come on, girls, don't give me a bad name or newcomers to the forum will think I'm not one of the most serious, sensible, reliable and elegantly-mannered members of the forum, which of course would be an erroneous impression.

Ok. Fair enough... I'll let the new comers figure you out for themselves.

I had no idea what kind of job Helmut83 meant, but once I was enlightened I was completely outraged and scandalised and see no alternative but to issue a most severe spanking. And I'm not even going to warm up the slipper, it's that bad. Front and centre, Mr Lawyer Man....this is going to hurt you more than it hurts me.....

No, no, no... I'm not going to accept this punishment. I have a completely solid alibi and I showed it: I was talking about blacksmiths. If other people with dirty minds thought otherwise, it's them, not me, who should be getting the punishment. My alibi was so solid that not even BSJ thought it would be fair to punish me, go figure...

What's this? Trying to weasel out of a punishment once decreed using pathetic excuses or even the truth? Double spanking!

Wow, when did Uno become the most fierce of the two heads of the monster? It used to be the other way round.

Hahaha go Uno, issuing out the punishment to the most deserving! Besides why would you be talking about blacksmiths anyway? Have you ever had experience being a blacksmith?

My first job was in a supermarket - it was hell on earth. I did nothing but clean up after lazy customers and hide in the alcohol aisle because it was so quiet.
Current job is in a second hand/charity store. The customers are slightly easier but far more rude. It's as if the cheaper the goods the less respect they feel they should give the staff. It's not all bad, it's the best job I will ever have because you get such an education from seeing all the items donated and you soon get broad-minded when you have to deal with the conditions of said donated items. We always have such fun in our little shop and everyday is different. Sometimes it's like living in a sitcom.
My favourite job is either my current one or the one I haven't got yet which is my dream - to work in the arts industry.

I left school at 16 years old and joined a local heating firm as a trainee designer attending college two days a week to study for ONC in Building Services Design. All the college work was theory based so I never did any installation work. After obtaining my ONC i stayed on at college for one day a week to study for a HNC. This complete process took some four years. Once qualified I stayed at the company as a Design Engineer. The company went through a number of take overs and slowly the long standing staff left.
One of the old staff set up his own heating company which he asked me to join, I accepted and joined his company which was called Walters Heating. I stayed here happily for a number of years until the late 80s when times got harder and the company went bust. The owner set up again but I left and worked for him as a sub contract, I also did the same for many other local heating firms.
After about a year I was taken on again full time in my old job at Walters Heating part 2. In 2001 the original owner decided to leave the company as his wife was seriously ill. I purchased the heating and asbestos removal company from him along with another employee. In 2004 me and the other employee decided to split the company into two, I took the Heating company along with a cash payout and he took the asbestos removal company. Finally I was my own boss owning Walters Heating 100% (well Mrs Wimp had a 48% share for tax reasons)
That's where I am today, still running my own little commercial heating business. These days I also have financial interest in a number of buy to let properties with my brother, these were really a pension pot but do bring in a decent income.

My first job was working in a McDonald's in downtown New Orleans during my last semester of high school, which was the first time my parents allowed me to get a job. My first week on the job was the week leading up to Mardi Gras, and the restaurant was overrun with customers during the time that I would have been getting training. It was insane!!! This was in the days before customers dispensed their own drinks in the lobby, so all I did was make drinks for hours and hours the first two days, since that was all I could do at that point. The cashiers called out the drink orders to me and then came by to grab them and inevitably yell at me for getting them wrong or letting someone else pick up their drink orders. It was not pretty!!! Soon, I got trained to take orders, and things improved considerably. My best friend got a job at the same restaurant, so that made work more fun. I went home smelling like French fries every day, but I didn't care too much. I saved up enough money to take a trip to France (my third trip from the US, by age 18) that summer...so obviously, I loved French. So... much to everyone's surprise, I currently work as a high school French teacher, and I've taught French almost all of my professional life. For the most part, I enjoy my job, although it is often stressful, and sometimes we teachers don't get the respect we deserve-- from the general public, from lawmakers, or from some of the students (and their families) we serve. I will be able to retire in about 8 years, and I will decide at that time whether I want to continue teaching for a while longer, retire completely, or get a pleasant part time job to help fund some exciting retirement adventures. (I'll probably choose the third option.) My one child is absolutely, ABSOLUTELY due to be finishing up at university the same year I become eligible for retirement, so that is clearly a divine signal!! (Whether my son realizes it or not, he's on MY schedule!!) Higher education is outrageously expensive in the US, so we can't retire before then anyway. Lately, I've been doing contract work for a few weeks each summer for an organization that grants a special type of voluntary advanced certification to teachers (which I already have). I train other teachers to score the advanced certificate assessments, and sometimes I do a bit of scoring, too.
