Hey forumheads! Question- what was your first job? And what is your current job? Which job was your favorite? My first job was at an ice cream parlor. I was the best dipper, ever! My current job(s) are part time bartender and part time Barista. I'm also a full time student, which is a job in itself! My favorite job was working at a bookstore. Mingling with well-read people is always the best!

Fun topic.
First job...working at a pizza place, making pizzas, salads, etc. The family who owned it were later linked to mob activity, including money laundering and even murder. I'm glad I never pissed them off and ended up in the bottom of a river with Guido and Sal.
currently self-employed in the security business, helping to provide security for small concert venues, etc. Kinda an offshoot of my former job as a bouncer at a big club. I kinda liked it. Getting to punch someone in the face and get paid for it is a bit of a rush.

My Counselor at high school directed me to an off-set printing class, junior year. I got a job the next summer at a small print shop downtown, in the basement of a former bank. We stored paper in the vault. I was Fred’s only employee and he spoiled me rotten, we had a blast. Charmin, Fred’s dog, would jump on the front desk scattering papers, and bark holy hell anytime a customer came in. I wrote my own paychecks! Ruined me for conventional employment. Ran press there three years. He had a stroke. Went to another shop of four pressmen, including me, and ended up managing it. After 18 years me and my body burnt out. Worked at a business that sold houses by land contract, three/four years? (I call a buyer asking about rent payment. “My dog died,” he says. I reply, “Did your dog write the checks?” Needless to say I had to go, I was getting a little too jaded. Still friends with the owner.), a title company (they closed when the housing boom busted, very interesting job), a medical office (not a good fit, they fired me. *sniff*) and last job a used book store for four years (being around books all day? Golden.)
Best jobs were the print shops. The great customer's, that's what I miss the most. Shaped my life. If I could, I'd be a printer again.
Retired.

Uh, kind of an unhappy subject for me at the moment, hopefully that will change soon.
1) First job: as a multi-task employee in the family business of agronomic administration. I did from paperwork to accountancy and dealing with clients. I was 6 years in that while I studied law.
2) Current job: civil and family lawyer, self-employed in some cases, along with two partners in others, working part-time and aiming at quitting the profession after 8 years of being in the business. Also student, if you can consider that a job.
3) Best job: at a lawyers buffet in downtown Buenos Aires (2009 and 2010). Great atmosphere, cool workmates, it was the proof that to be professional and among the best in what you do you don't need to be all stressed up and running all day.
In the end, you get to the conclusion that there's no better job than a bl... uh, forget about it. smiley-music025

I was only about to say that there's no better job than a blacksmith, don't know what you guys were thinking.

Oh, well, blacksmith sort of clears up this misunderstanding, because the gal in Chippa's post looks nothing like what a blacksmith does. Until this is sorted out elophile , I'm giving the old boy the benefit of the doubt.

Uh, I think it's the dirty minds here (led by elophile , of course ) who deserve a punishment for being so filthy. That's what too much watching photos of Jeff Lynne can do to your mind.

Oh, the hypocrisy! You have fooled BSJ but I know exactly what you were implying. And as for my posting of and commenting on photos of Jeff Lynne - i've said it before... I do it strictly for education purposes!!

Hahahaha I think I know exactly what type of job you were referring to Helmut83 so don't act all innocent again! It doesn't suit you! As for me the only job I've had was as a Christmas Customer Service Assistant at a supermarket, the supervisors were arses and the customers weren't the best either but the pay was good! I had a customer have a go at me on my first shift, good start to the job I must say! Being a student is a full time job in itself, except when you go to the pub a lot, that's not really what a job entails but it's good fun!
