I'm really looking forward to seeing your finished artwork and final selections, and yes ,I agree that the Electric dreams tracks belong here. You mention this new BF that you found online. Does this mean there are 3 versions out there? if so, how does it differ from the other 2 ?
With Flashback and Afterglow, then all the albums remastered, perhaps the best way forward as you say is a mini anthology type release combining everything such as the Trojan tapes, Xanadu outtakes and b sides, anything extra available from SM, ED tracks, Matter of fact x2,with the incentive of all the promo videos and of course BF. This would limit multi re-releases and repetition thus keeping existing released stock as it is. Oh and the artwork could contain the intended SM cover, and ticket to the moon12" artwork etc.

The second source for Beatles Forever was a copy (supposedly made from Bill Bottrell's safety cassette of the whole Secret Messages double album) that appeared on a podcast, only by the time anyone noticed its appearance as a hidden, unlisted track, the original high quality file had been replaced by a smaller archive version, encoded at 64kbps. At some point since this, the uploader has made available their original MP3, which benefits from being double the bitrate and really letting us hear various details that were previously obsured.
With just a few EQ adjustments, some very light speed correction and the fixing of a minor error, I was able to get this particular copy sounding almost comparable to the other material in my compilation. Yes, it still manages to stick out a little and forces me to use more compression than I would normally feel comfortable doing over the whole project so the difference is reduced even furtheer, but the fact remains that unless a new leak occurs or Jeff finally approves an official release, this is probably the best we can expect for a while.
As for the bonus tracks I discussed previously, my only real concern is that Sooner Or Later sounds more at home on Balance Of Power, though it would be wrong to split this up from the other Electric Dreams songs, which do fit on Secret Messages in terms of their overall sound and production style. Besides, doesn't Balance Of Power have enough additional material? If we ever did get a further expanded version of that album, I'd prefer any additions to be the two variations on A Matter Of Fact, the complete alternate Heaven Only Knows and at least one of those rough mixes of Calling America that are known to exist.
While a "mini anthology type release" would be a good idea, I'm sure most fans prefer the idea of a more comprehensive set, hopefully spanning all eras of the band so the various outtakes could be released without their most suitable parent albums needing to be reissued once again. For example, didn't Rob Caiger once say that Jeff's issue with the Trojan Tapes Sessions was that he couldn't decide if these fit with Eldorado or Face The Music? Considering that FTM had only recently been released at the time of this comment, it was suggested the batch of four remasters from 2001 could be upgraded, though I agree that Eldorado isn't the best home for these songs.
Indeed, it's probably for this reason Indian Queen remained exclusive to Flashback, and I'm still not entirely sure Dark City worked in the context of being a bonus track on Eldorado. To make one very quick last point on this album, right before you hear Beatles Forever in the podcast I mentioned before, there are two brilliant early instrumental takes from the Eldorado sessions that would have served as far better additional material than the heavily edited medley that was included. Furthermore, it would be great if Jeff approved First Days Of September along with his demo for the Sight & Sound version of Indian Queen one day as well.
If we put our resources and knowledge together to assemble a definitive list of the known circulating yet officially unreleased ELO material out there, I'm sure the powers that be would have to reconsider keeping all that vault material locked away when they figure out that an enterprising fan could already compile quite the rarities set, filling a huge gap in the market. A long overdue Legacy Deluxe Collector's Edition of Secret Messages is just the tip of the iceberg compared to what could be done with the whole back catalogue, though I'd say it's perhaps one of more important historical wrongs that finally needs righting!

What EQ adjustments did you do exactly? I tried a few adjustments myself, but couldn't really improve it. I'm a bit of a newbie with these kind of things.
