Nice interview, if only it was longer! I'd love to hear more from Roy Wood, he seems such a lovely bloke

My mum is upset to find out that she missed seeing her hero live in Sheffield as he visited while we were away on holiday .
She will, now doubt, rectify this by playing THAT Christmas song at top volume as she usually does.
Listening to Roy speak, it's amazing how alike he is to Jeff. The same engaging tone of voice, Brummie accent, and attitude to music. Both guys are just very entertaining and humble interviewees. It's no wonder they got on so well.

Was it just me but I thought he sounded a lot like Jeff, I know they are both from Brum it was not just his accent but some of the comments he made.

Oh no that's a shame! I hope she gets to see him soon, it's taken my mom 40 years near enough to see him! That Christmas song was for a time the only song I knew by Wizzard and I did think Roy Wood was a lot older than he is because of what he wears in the music video for the song. I feel Wizzard or Roy Wood for that matter is known for that song and it's a shame because Roy is just as talented as Jeff.
Yeah my mom thought the same, he sounds so similar to Jeff, in terms of personality (like shyness) and I'm glad they're still good friends after all the stuff that happened in the early ELO days, whether this will happen with a certain Custard King and Damey is another matter...

I think this is the first time I've heard Roy speak at length in an interview since I began to love ELO so perhaps that's why I thought I could hear a similarity, comparison as Jeff's been recently so talkative. Plus hearing Woody on the radio directs your thoughts to his voice and not his "unusual" attire and general Wizzard-ing look . Oh no that's a shame! I remember it used to come on TV when I was younger to advertise what kids shows were on the BBC over the festive period. We were even made to learn and sing the song in school music lessons for many weeks. In many ways I feel I should choose Roy over Jeff in terms of loyalty, I did love Woody first!
I bought my mum one of Roy's compilation cds for her birthday (it's the day before Roy's) knowing only that song and vaguely a couple of others. But the album came in very handy once the ELO connection started to twig as it also featured '10538 Overture'. I credit my mum for helping me discover Jeff.

Not to mention a certain Tandy-tastic pianist.....

Yes I remember my mom saying that Roy was known for his wacky attire but she always felt he deserved to be as famous as Jeff because she always saw him as talented as Jeff if not more talented. My mom was telling me not sure when it was might have been in the 70s where Smash Hits or some magazine around that time asked people to vote for the best British musician or band and Roy Wood was one of the nominees and do you know who people voted for? The Bay City Rollers, my mom was fuming. I reckon I may need to buy my mom a Roy Wood CD for Christmas especially since she's going to see him on 8th December! Ahh that's nice, I credit my parents a lot for getting me into bands I love, especially ELO and The Beatles!

Lost? Not in our hearts and minds his isn't and never will be!
"He wanted to be all of pop, all at the same time" - a perfect description.
The more I read and hear of Roy, the more he seems to sound like Jeff. The description in the article of him is very Jeff-like. I never used to think them alike, I used to believe Roy was more outgoing and self-confident but it appears this isn't so. I thought the Roy-Jeff ELO break came from a clash of personalities as well as creative differences but it seems that they may have been TOO alike.
