OK, for mine, I'll do 10 lesser-known songs by Billy Joel, that I have always been pretty fond of, for my part.
Maybe because I haven't been bludgeoned to death with them on the radio, as with many of his amazing classic hits (all of which I hold nothing against, except for maybe "Only the Good Die Young", ha ha).
I hope you enjoy them too.
Instead of a song by song review this time, I'll just mention my overall breakdown on the list, here.
Star Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Prime Cuts: "Rosalinda's Eyes", "Easy Money", "Baby Grand"
Bottom Line: Some great but lesser-known songs by an incredible artist.
And will say that the three I listed as prime cuts, I consider my three personal favorite songs by him, though certainly not saying they are his best, just my three
favorites. I really like the aggressive rhythm and blues feel of "Easy Money", seems like the only song he has done of that genre, and he does a great job on it, IMHO.
I'll freely admit that "All You Wanna Do is Dance" is cheesy-sounding; but I love it anyways! Wonder if it inspired the Don Henley lyric of his similarly-titled song years
later "All She Wants to Do is Dance".
Courtesy cheat sheet provided at the bottom. Party down with these great tunes!
Jim
01) "Downeaster Alexa"
02) "Close to the Borderline"
03) "Half a Mile Away"
04) "Rosalinda's Eyes"
05) "Careless Talk"
06) "All You Wanna is Dance"
07) "Easy Money"
08) "This Night" - The chorus uses Beethoven's "Pathetique Sonata", for the record.
09) "Running on Ice"
10) "Baby Grand"
