I dug deeper and found this interesting bit that there were two competing festivals.
www.npr.org/2019/04/29/718321891/woodstock-50-canceled-by-its-investors
None of this has affected a competing anniversary festival being held the same weekend by the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, which will take place on the site of the original Woodstock event and features Ringo Starr, Santana, the Doobie Brothers and John Fogerty.

my local independent radio station puts on free concerts once a month in the Summer, and I'm always amazed at the quality of the bands
last evening at Baltimore's waterfront park, I got to see a promising new group "Bailen" which consists of 3 siblings who do terrific harmonies and the headliner, a Neil Youngish sort of folk rock act "Strand of Oaks" - terrific lyrics and guitar work
some samples

I got to see Parthenon Huxley (and friends) play Friday night in a small club in Virginia. He doesn't really have his own band as he plays with The Orchestra "all over the world" and he plays in a covers band called The Suiters "all around metro DC". But once in a great while, he gets some of his musician buddies together to play his own songs. I don't know where they find the time to rehearse, but they did 2 solid hours with only one noticeable problem - and that was when Hux knocked his own guitar plug out.
I'd say it was 50% Hux songs, 40% ELO and 10% miscellaneous covers. Started with a bang as he did Buddha, Buddha and went straight into Johnny & Jewel. Played more than half the songs on his latest album, then went back for an old one (Sputnik) and a great ballad (Turn the Soil). He mixed in Eleanor Rigby (Beatles), Baby Love (Supremes), Let Me Roll It (Wings). First ELO song was Can't Get it Out of My Head, which was followed by Evil Woman, Showdown, Sweet Talking Woman and Mr Blue Sky before doing a terrific job on Telephone Line with 3 of the band members taking turns with the vocals.
all of this for the low, low price of $20 - which got me a seat in the VIP section (that meant waitress service for food and drink)
It would be great if Parthenon would do more of these shows. And he really ought to be playing in bigger rooms - but I'm not complaining. Seeing him in such an intimate venue was great.

Went to see Weird Al at a theatre in Vancouver with the whole family (wife and 12 year old twins - boy and girl). It was my son’s first concert, couldn’t afford to take him to see Jeff! We had a great time, Al puts on a fun show with lots of costume changes. This tour was with a full orchestra which made it extra special. Al has a distinct voice and an impressive range (check out Jurassic Park/MacArthur Park). The set list was a bit heavy on the rap parodies for me but the kids like that stuff.... Al brought out the accordion for the encore. Recommended

I went with my son to see Weird Al a few years ago when he was in middle school (he's 16 now). Al puts on a great show! We both enjoyed it! Definitely a must see for the tween and young teen set!

free concert at the local brewery today in Baltimore - my kind of a Saturday afternoon!
Future Islands is an East Coast band (Baltimore / North Carolina) but has been touring the world for the last couple of years - first time playing here in a long time. They are trying out new material. Weather forecast is perfect now that the hurricane has gone out to sea. Expect they will draw a good crowd.

We're going to see Harry Connick, Jr. later this month. Hubby likes jazz, the Great American Songbook, etc. and I grew up in N.O. at the same time as Mr. Connick, so there's a bit of nostalgia there for me. It should be a good show! Harry Connick, Jr. wouldn't know me from the next person at the concert, but I remember him from when he hung out with friends of friends of mine (other really talented folks) when we were teenagers. Kind of cool!

The Harry Connick, Jr. event last night was lovely! Smooth, velvety voice; classic songs (mostly Cole Porter tunes); great arrangements; overall excellent musical and multimedia entertainment ...and he's a cutie, too! Good show!
