I think we had a thread like this on the previous forum, so let's try it here. Post some of your favorite or rare ELO and Jeff Lynne cover songs. I'll start by posting one I'd never heard up until about 20 minutes ago. It's former Rainbow lead vocalist Graham Bonnet, and his version of "Whisper In The Night".

As rough as this is, I love it. Young kids appreciating great music is always a big plus,in my book.

That's so beautiful and pure even if it isn't perfect, like Chippa said. Plus the girl sing backing vocals and playing keyboards looks a lot like 18 year old me.

I hate to say this but I think I prefer Graham Bonnet version of WitN over ELO's version. That is beautiful!

As rough as this is, I love it. Young kids appreciating great music is always a big plus,in my book. My son's music school offers the students the opportunity to form bands like this under the guidance of the instructors there. They choose songs, learn them (practice, practice, practice!!!), and perform them at a local club on a weekend afternoon. They do one gig every six months or so. My son plays piano and keyboards and has been in such a band for over a year, but he refuses to consider any music for the band that his mother likes. They're a good little group, in spite of his underdeveloped musical taste. He's young. He has time.

I'd never have guessed that was Graham Bonnet, he does do it justice. I agree with Eloise , it's probably better than the original

I agree. I prefer this too. It's beautiful. It lacks the delicacy of Roy in my favourite live version but it sure beats the ELO recorded version! Feel bad for saying that but I'm sure Roy would be happy to know his songs can be recorded so well by others.

Ambrose Slade did a song on their 1st album called ' knocking nails into my wall' which was a Jeff Lynne penned song for the Idle Race.

Here's the Idle Race covering a Move song. I think this is the only time other than 'My Marge', 'Chinatown', 'Tonight' and 'California Man' where Jeff sings something written by Roy. I have to admit though, some of my favourite songs from Jeff and Roy's time together are the ones where they sing together.

I would love his thoughts for doing this. Besides knowing Jeff is a genius.

Did Dave Lee Roth cover Shine a Little Love for a joke? I really hope he wasn't taking that seriously.
(bet the video was interesting though, if there was one)

I would love his thoughts for doing this. Besides knowing Jeff is a genius. Back in his Van Halen days, I remember Dave mentioning that he was an ELO fan. Ironically, Dave's replacement in VH, Sammy Hagar, once opened for ELO.
