I think the easiest way is for me to make the current weeks thread a sticky so it is always at the top of the list. I can then unsticky it the next week and sticky the new thread, if that makes sense. If I forget, then give me a nudge

Hopefully it will serve as a good reminder for all to be courteous to keep the focus on the CD of the Week! Jim

Guys of the "CD of the Week" section (specially Horacewimp and queenofthehours, as the administrators): Today BSJ asked me by private message where was my CD of the Week thread. I couldn't blame her for not finding it because the truth is that I posted it on Sunday 21 (it's Wednesay night now) and since then it has spent practically all of the time buried under threads which have newer posts (mainly by the CD of the Week from the previous week -Sunday 14-, maybe because it's the Beatles very popular album "Rubber Soul" -BSJ's post-). Even when a few users still have managed to remember about it, find it and post their reviews all the same, and even when I posted some answers to help keep it on float, it would inevitably sink beneath the CD of the week from Sunday 14 again and again, thus not being visible from outside of the "CD of the Week" section inside "Music". As a consequence, the CD from Sunday 14 got more activity this week than the one that I posted and that is supposed to be under reviews this week. If you think that's how it works, I haven't got any problem, but I think if you want to make the section "CD of the Week" work properly you've got to find a way to make the CD of that week be always at hand and visible that very week, no matter if users keep posting in the old ones or in other threads. What's your opinion? This is a very pertinent point and very true. Helmut's right. I'm guilty myself of posting a week behind because I needed some time to write my review and it would be unfair if new people came to the forum and couldn't join in on past CDs - that's my argument for not locking the threads. On the other hand, Horace's sticky idea is a happy resolution as it directs attention to the featured CD and leaves room for more comments on the other LPs as, and I hope other people agree, sometimes you can't always make full judgements on someone's album choice in one week.

Horace, I don't think your solution is working. Just follow these steps to see what I mean: enter the "Music" section. Up top you will see the button to enter the "CD of the week" special section, which, next to it, shows only one thread of the section (the one which has the most recent post). Which thread is showing right now there next to that button, since at least 6 hours ago? The CD of the week of Sunday 14. And we are on Friday 26. It seems like no matter what we do that CD of the week always manages to sink mine and hide it from easy viewing.
What happens is that the sticky only keeps the thread up top of the column you see once you enter the "CD of the week" section, but you have to enter that section first to see it. I don't know others, but I don't always do that. I usually take the short path and enter the thread directly from the main menu or the "Music" section menu (because the thread with the most recent post of the section is available there), without going into the section first. From there, you can only see one CD: the one that has the most recent post. If someone postes more recently in and older CD thread, that thread appears next to the button of the "CD of the week" section instead of the current one, which you can't see from there, no matter if sticky or no sticky. I hope I am explaining the problem properly so that you can understand it.
That's why I was saying I don't think the sticky method works. I think we should figure a way to keep it visible during all that week, without being affected by people posting in older threads.
Creating a special section for the current CD of the week while sending the older ones all together to another special section (the one that is active now) could be a solution maybe.

Helmut I think you must navigate the forum differently to me, but I think I understand what you are saying.
What I can do is make a folder for the current CD of the week and change the other folder to an archive, I'll set that up now, let me know if it works for you ok.

Thanks, Horace! It doesn't matter if it works only for me, the idea is not to please me (in any case my CD is just ending it's week). The idea is to make a section that works in the best way possible from now on. If other guys have something to say about it or better ideas, they are welcome. jrmugz, queenofthehours, etc... And yes, I saw what you did and something like that was my idea. The only thing I would change (for logical reasons) is placing the current CD of the Week's thread on top, and the archive downwards (right now it is in the inverse order). Other than that, I believe now it may work as it is supposed to, and we still can comment on older CDs without interfering with the current one.

Having a separate folder for the older CDs of the Week is an excellent idea.
Just a thought, but might it be clearer to include the album title in the thread title along with the date for the CD of the week? Then people can recognise which thread corresponds with which LP at a glance.

I don't know QOTH, for my part I like to open and it like a present and be surprised; plus I always have them tracked in the first post of the sign-up thread. But just like everyone else feels, if most people want to do it that way or a certain way, no problem. Jim

As it is now I think it's the best way to do it. You enter the music section, and in the CD of the week sub-board you see on top the current CD and downwards the archive.

But just like everyone else feels, if most people want to do it that way or a certain way, no problem. Jim I know what you mean. I like the surprise too. What I really meant was the older CDs in case you wanted to go back to an album from, say, five weeks ago but wasn't sure of the date. Tracking them on the first post of the sign up thread is good but a new user might not think to check there and not be encouraged to add their comments. It was just a thought anyway. Maybe have a page on it's own dedicated to just the list of albums?
While I'm here. When is best for me to post my CD? Saturday evening or Sunday morning? My Sunday mornings might not be as early as some people's! And should I just add a new thread to the Current CD of the Week folder?

Hi Everyone, yeah as far as I'm concerned, anyone can name their thread whatever they want, and up to them if they want to include the CD name or not.
Yeah QOTH, as far as I know, just start it in the Current CD of the Month area, and yeah, anytime you want to add it is fine, no crime if it's a few hours early in your or someone else's time zone, etc. Whatever works best for you!

Jim, you're so laid back! We need rules, or else certain people *coughBSJcough* might run riot! I work in Local Government, I'm not used to thinking for myself
