As I understand, several things were out of rule and weren't done correctly before and during the flight. It would be important to know who decided that Sala should travel in that small plane, with a pilot whose licence wasn't active and who didn't know how to fly it, as it stands out. If it was Nantes who put him on that plane, then I think Cardiff has a strong point for not making the payments.

Another tough week but hopefully his family will now start to be able to find a little peace.
As I understand it the gentleman who searched and found him did it without payment for his personal services which is remarkable. I believe the other family are about to request he looks for the pilot.
As for the plane, it was neither club. It was booked privately through his agent (they have actually published the text conversation). I suspect the holding of payment is not permanent and Cardiff will honour what they owe to Nantes. Cardiff have tried to do everything correctly I believe and have even offered to fly him home to his family.
RIP Emiliano

At least there's a good side to all of this which is all the spontaneous efforts (both economic and factual) that so many people from different countries have made in order to help and comfort the Sala family.

How awful. It's hard to assert something like this with no empirical evidence, but I wouldn't be surprised if the immense sadness cause by his son's evitable death had a lot to do with his own death. He was just 58. All too sad.

Helmut83 it looks like Bielsa’s Leeds will have to settle for a place in the playoffs, this is better than we hoped for at the start of the season. Automatic promotion did look on but we ran out of steam in the last few months, even so he is still a very popular manager.

Interesting to know, Horacewimp. One of the things that has been criticized a lot about Bielsa is that his teams seem to run out of steam as the end of the season approaches, his detractors say that physically speaking he demands too much too early from his players so at the end of the season they are worn out. Let's see if he can put this fame to rest in the playoffs. In any case if he exceeded the expectations then he did pretty well already. One of Bielsa's disciples, Pochettino, is doing really well at Tottenham Hotspur, and he's adored by Spurs fans.

I have to say, I have a great deal of respect for Snr Pochettino. When Nicola Cortese left Saints mid-season, we could have expected Poch to follow him - bearing in mind it was Cortese who brought him to Southampton.
No, Pochettino stayed 'til the end of the season. He's a decent chap, in my opinion, and all success to him.
I don't know a great deal about Bielsa. The sportsmanship he displayed yesterday makes me want to know more about him...

dillwyn, I'm sorry for you and your kids. Maybe you'll enjoy more next season, as I suppose coming from the Premier League Cardiff will be one of the big fish in the second division (although I'm not sure how true this logic is).
