Yees, gods! I don't have enough Vaseline for the hurt you put on Mr Doluces! Well done xoxoxo Who the hell is Mr Doluces??? Oh, it's BSJSpelling© again... Shame on Dolces for not having know he was born in the same state as the one and only BSJ . Now, you didn't know either, so I'm afraid you are eligible for a similar punishment... unless you be your own lawyer and tell me why you are not. Call Rudy Giuliani.

Well, I hadn't heard any of these songs before either, but there were things I liked about all of them. Ended up going for Ultravox and my slightly lesser-favorite group of Brummies.
Side note: as a Trekkie, I had to laugh at the name T'Pau.
Side note #2: I must extend my thanks to both Horacewimp and Chippa for introducing me to so many new songs with these polls! Between Radio 2 and Spotify, I've since heard the Doobie Brothers "What a Fool Believes", REM "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?", and Jon and Vangelis "I'll Find My Way Home", all of which I wouldn't have known otherwise, so it's been fun hearing them.

Somewhat unrelated as it’s been not the polls but another thread that’s introduced me to it— On the “sounds like ELO” thread queenofthehours posted two songs by a band called Magic, I heard “Oh California” and instantly loved it, then listened to “I’m in Love Again” figuring if I liked one I’d like the other and I certainly did, those songs have been on repeat amongst my usual ELO for the past week or so. I was interested in more of that band’s stuff and looked to add those two songs to some of my Spotify playlists but cannot find them on there, and the only recordings on YouTube seem to be the ones posted on here, and googling the songs and the band only bring up results about other songs or bands, and I was feeling rather like Jack from the Yesterday movie googling the Beatles and having nothing come up. Eventually I looked up the songwriter and found a Wikipedia article on him but it mentions nothing of his band “Magic”...the only other thing we could find was when Grroosss looked up the number on the label and found the discogs listing for it...anyone know why the band seems to have disappeared? From what I can gather they were short-lived so maybe that’s all but you’d think the internet which has information on just about anything would at least have a little mention of them, maybe they were more popular in Britain and never reached the US? If anyone knows where I could obtain these songs even if it’s a digital purchase from iTunes or somewhere it’d be appreciated, the only thing I’ve seen is an eBay listing for the 45 and it costs $30 which seems a little outrageous to me considering most 45s are no more than $3 even when new.

Sorry, nobodyschild, I'm not going to answer your question about this band Magic (I ought to give it a listen too)... I just wanted to ask you about the Yesterday movie. Is it worth it?

I say it definitely is, and I know nobodyschild would agree. It's a very intriguing concept that could've turned out poorly-executed, but it wasn't... though it's not to be taken too seriously because you leave with more questions about the movie's alternate reality than you went in with. Overall a very cute and wholesome film, and I loved it.

Well, "I" know these four, and it's an easy selection... Dexy's and Ultravox. The first one grabbed me by the scruff of the neck, and the other's just epic!
Joe Dolce... HONESTLY???!!!

I’ve looked and looked and looked again and found nothing other than the original 7” vinyl or YouTube in connection to those Magic songs.
The only other information I know is that the songs were written by John Carter of Birmingham and were sung by Tony Burrows of ‘Beach Baby’ fame. I reckon the songs were overshadowed by ‘Beach Baby’ and then forgotten by history. It was probably a one hit wonder single that was never a hit! It wouldn’t surprise me if the band behind ‘Beach Baby’, First Class, wasn’t the same band as Magic as they already had the same singer and songwriter.
I found these on Ebay -

Thanks for the info queenofthehoursHelmut83 as for Yesterday, I highly recommend watching the movie. I absolutely loved it and have been wanting to get my hands on it to see it again ever since I saw it the first time.

Being a huge Beatles fan too, the movie would have to be terribly bad for me to dislike it, and if you two liked it so much I bet I will too. I'll probably take my mother, as we do a lot of Beatles-related stuff together because she's the one who exposed me to the Fab Four since my early childhood.
