Heck, the draw was uneven. While there were some weak pools, this one is full of heavyweights.
In other circumstances I would have voted for Bob Dylan or Roy Orbison, but being the Beatles there, there's no doubt for me.
When did Jeff work with Little Richard? I didn't know that.

It does seem unfair but it is how the names were picked out of my coffee mug. According to Jeff Lynne Song Database he produced Good Golly Miss Molly in 1991 www.jefflynnesongs.com/jlworks9.php

Got to be Royston, he's hugely the coolest out of all these and probably more a hero to Jeff than the Beatles.

I had to do a coffee cup pick on this one between Beatles or Roy.
Beatles won.

Roy's "Mystery Girl" is a near masterpiece.

Roy's "Mystery Girl" is a near masterpiece. Yeah, he made a nice collection of songs written by other artists.

Yeah, he made a nice collection of songs written by other artists. He co-wrote five of the ten songs. He is in the credits in those five songs, but I'm pretty sure he didn't write them and the other guys were generous enough to put him in the credits. Roy Orbison used to write songs in the '60s, but it seems he wasn't writing any longer at that point. Same as with the Traveling Wilburys: the others wrote them and gave them to him to sing, and then credited him as a songwriter too. I don't think he contributed at all to those songs. They sound very little like his old songwriting. Even assuming he had written them, I wouldn't call someone's masterpiece a piece of work in which that person has only co-written half of the songs of the album. It may be a masterpiece, but not his masterpiece in my opinion.
