Must confess I was being lazy with the accent on Pina Colada too, plus in the song he does sing it "pi-nah" rather than "pi-nya" so I blame Rupert, I was copying him Interesting to read the whole language issue, over here some people will address a lady of a certain age as "Love" or "Lovey" or "Dearie" which drives my mother up the wall as she finds it really patronising especially from anyone a lot younger. Personally I don't mind as long as it's meant in a nice way. Once we went on holiday to the north east of England where women are often addressed as "Pet" which I found utterly charming especially as I adore the Geordie accent you hear up there

"Pet"? With all the feminism thing that's going on these days I'm sure someone has to have found it offensive.

I think it's really sweet when people use these casual terms of endearment to address each other. I like "hon" (Baltimore). And you can tell if it's meant to be patronizing or not.

I hate being called "Honey or Dear" by a man who is not close to me. It's condescending.
