heard this on the radio this morning and it reminded me that when I first heard the song (decades ago) I thought she was singing "This is Scary" it was only after a month of air play when the DJ said the name of the song that I figured it out

orioles70I thought the same thing the first time I heard that song! I also remembered a few of my Tom Petty misheard lyrics when one of his songs came on the radio the other day. When I was a kid, I thought "runnin' down a dream" was "running down the drain." I also thought "I won't back down" was "I walk back down," and I remember wondering where the heck he was walking back down to...

The Tom Petty mention reminded me that I just discovered I've got a couple Traveling Wilburys misheard lyrics in Rattled. Every time the lyrics say "over you" it sounds to me like "only you", and in the bits after the famous Orbison growl where Jeff jumps back in, I thought instead of "I get" he was shouting "Again!" before they head into the next verse... personally, I think my version is more fun

I also always thought he said “again!” It would have been a fun touch if it had been, similarly like when the singer will say “take it so-and-so” before the solo.

More Wilburys misheard lyrics— In Heading for the Light at the beginning when George sings “I’ve wandered around” I always thought it was “I’ve wanted to drown”...

LOL'd at this. The thought of Freddie doing such a thing.

Not really misheard lyrics but a fair amount of “Somebody to Love” I simply had no clue what he was singing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh, here's a good one, considering that it's one of those songs that EVERYONE sings along to, and I only found out this summer that I had the lyrics wrong... Don't Stop Believin', I thought it was "I seen her in a smoking room, a smell of wine and sweet perfume, for a small they can share the night"... sharing a small soda in a room full of people smoking cigarettes is hardly my idea of romance, but who am I to judge?

The Eagles, Lyin Eyes, the line “every form of refuge has its price”, I thought price was pride, and that it was “and your smile isn’t in disguise”.

Okay, I have no idea how I got this out of the song, but... I heard "Raspberry Beret" (by Prince) while driving this morning. I'd heard the song some times before, and always thought it was called "Max's Miracle Ring". Listening closer this morning to the lyrics, I thought maybe it was "she wore a mesmerical ring" The only way I found out what the song really was was by going on the radio station's website to look at the list of what songs they'd played today, because whatever wacky lyrics I'd been imagining didn't return anything useful on google search or YouTube. Listening to the song now I can't even see how I heard that. (Maybe I was subconsciously thinking Miracle Max from the Princess Bride???)
